Google requires me to give a star. IT DOESN'T DESERVE ANY. STORY TIME - PLEASE READ My family of 12 were visiting Quebec City and after walking around and seeing the sights, we needed to eat. We looked for halal options and this was one of the first ones that popped up that wasn't just shwarmas. We liked the pictures we saw on Google and so we went. My niece (age 2), barely eats, so when she craves/asks for something that is food, we get it and give it to her. At this time, she wanted a McDonald's fish burger and fries. The rest of my family, 11 people, all ordered from this restaurant. When my niece's father brought the McDonald's bag, the server started yelling at us for bringing McDonald's. We tried to explain to him that its for the 2 year old and that the rest have ordered at which point he became very arrogant and started saying "It wasn't his problem and that the owner made these rules and if you don't like it, you can leave" and he walked away and threw the menu. This was absolutely unacceptable and completely rude. When we got up and decided to walk out from this restaurant due to the servers attitude and behaviour, he wouldn't allow us to leave and threatened to call the police on us. We felt very unsafe and as if we were being held hostage. When my father said he wanted to leave as he felt uncomfortable and that the server was being rude, an old man (who I assume is the owner) ran out and came in my father's face and started yelling and telling him and us to get out.

We were all very shaken, and scared by this experience. So much that walking out, we kept looking back to see if they were coming after us. Never in our lives we have been treated like this. We definitely won't be back but we urge everyone to be careful if they visit here. Thank...

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONSIDERING GOING HERE We were in Quebec City for the first time and were looking for a Halal option nearby. This was the only place that came up in Google Maps. The food was absolutely awful, extremely small quantities. (The Tajine almost made me puke). The waitress/owner said the food was Halal but we had very strong doubts (they serve alcohol here as well); nevertheless, we took their word. We usually finish all our food at restaurants, but this was the first time ever where we did not finish just because how terrible it tasted and how trash the service was. THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART was how the TIP WAS INCLUDED on the bill (20%!!!)... now you tell me if this is an ethical thing to do (especially when the food was awful, and the service was horrific). When mentioned about this, the man and woman (owners) YELLED and SCREAMED at me loudly about how this was MANDATORY for me to pay. Me, an out of town traveller with my family, scared, gave in, and paid. It was basically extortion. PLEASE READ OTHER'S REVIEWS as they had the EXACT SAME experience as me! I just read 4-5 identical situations like mine. Please don't make a mistake like mine and support unethical businesses like this - they don't deserve even a penny of yours and I'm sure there are other better places to eat nearby! Shame on these owners and I'm going to report you to the Better Business...

I would not recommend La Maison Marocaine at all. We visited yesterday and had a very disappointing experience.

The food had no flavor whatsoever – it was bland and tasted like boiled food with no seasoning. The service was just as bad. Before arriving, we called to make a reservation, but the person on the phone hung up on us. When we mentioned this upon arrival, she told us she thought we were “scammers” simply because we spoke English and our phone number appeared to be from outside Quebec City. That was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.

We still decided to give the place a chance and ordered food for three people, but the quality was terrible. When it came time to pay, the menu showed $78, yet we were suddenly asked to pay an extra 15% for service, which she claimed was “mandatory.” This charge was not included on the bill, and we were pressured into paying it. On top of that, her attitude was very rude, and we felt discriminated against in how we were treated.

Overall, from the food to the service to the way customers are treated, this restaurant does not deserve even one star. We will never return and strongly advise others...

We came here on a Monday night. It's in Vieux-Quebéc and kind of hidden away, so while all the nearby restaurants were packed with people, this one only had a couple tables that were occupied. We had very good and fast service here. The Moroccan mint tea was needed after a long day of walking but my favorite thing here was the Harira soup. It's a small bowl that doesn't look like much but as soon as you put a spoonful in your mouth, your taste buds receive an explosion of flavor. I loved this soup so much. It was delicious. If I ever come back to Québec City, I'm coming here and getting 3 bowls of this soup. I'm not kidding. The chicken kebabs were good and the vegetables that came with them were delicious. The rice however, wasn't the best. This place was cozy aside from the lighting. The indoor lighting was an unwelcoming blue-white and so was part of the outdoor lighting. If this restaurant switched up the lights to warm yellow lighting it would be so much better and they might get more customers.

Beautiful place with a good ambiance. Located in the heart of old Quebec, it gives a special value to visit. The food was great, it has a very rich taste and the price was not expensive. They decorate it very well. Regarding to the covid concern, they put a sink at the entrance to wash your hands. Then you will enter a small corridor of rocks, then the restaurant will be at the end of the corridor. Preferable visit time will be during summer, so you can enjoy the night view while sitting in the terasse of the restaurant. Baklava and mint tea are must try items here.

A family ran restaurant. The father cooks and the amazing Yassed waiters. The food is home cooked and so savory! You won't even need a knife to cut through your meat. They also have vegetarian/vegan options. Please don't miss your chance to go have the best Moroccan food in Quebec. In the picture you can see the lovely Yassed, who is so kind and funny you never want to leave. I shouldn't even be saying this, but the prices are too low for what they offer. Visit La Maison Marocaine and travel to distant lands through the flavors, music and lovely conversation!
