So this was a hole fiasco, but here's the recap : Great food, terrible service. First we made a reservation for 3 while walking around since we have had problems with the underaged bar rules, aka not being able to eat everywhere. This place is child friendly including a children's menu so we went with it. I personally was really looking forward to eating steak-frites on this fine Sunday night. We were quickly seated in the very center of the restaurant with a view of the bar and outside. We only had 1 phone so we needed to get real menus which took us a little bit more time but no worries. Then about 15 minutes after that we order. The waitress comes back 5 minutes later to inform me that they ran out of steak-frites, AT 6:30 ON A SUNDAY. Disappointed I return to look at the menu and decide on the carnivore pizza. The waitress never comes back. About 20 minutes later, I walk over to her to give my order. After a while we notice the drinks are taking incredibly long so we keep trying to see what's going on, then we look over to the bar where there is one guy and about 95 used glasses where people could be sitting, it was simply something I've never seen in a restaurant especially not one that looked this fancy. Eventually we harrass our server to ask if our drinks were coming after a very unreasonable amount of time. Before we receive our drinks our food comes. Also sidenote every single time food or drinks came the staff would try the table infront of us, definitely lack of communication within staff. My pizza was uncut which seemed a bit strange but otherwise it was wonderful, everyone at my table liked their food, but one person had to ask for a steak knife. Then another 10 minutes after the food arrived then came in the drinks, my mocktail named placebo was decent but mostly ice and someone found their sangria strong. It really didn't make sense why it took them so long when for one of us they just needed to pour wine into a glass already on the table, they also did not refill our water at any point until we asked them while we were waiting for our drinks. Multiple times we debated leaving, but we didn't just out of hope and hunger but we did come across a situation. This very calm seaming couple started getting angry with the staff since they ordered at 6 and they hadn't received their food by 7:30, one staff told them to leave. It was not impressive to say the least. We left as soon as possible, the waitress did offer a dessert on her dime for the trouble, but we were so done we wanted to be done with the place. To be honest, there was no tip given. To end on a good note here is an amazing restaurant that is also kid friendly that had wonderful food and service : Les Trois Garçons. We had a much better time there and it's even on the...
Read moreOur food and service provided by our server was terrific, however, we originally had an issue with our reservation. We made a reservation well in advance, but when we arrived we the hostess seemed flustered about where to seat us. After a few minutes we were seated in the bar area and told they were unable to seat us in the main dining area. Normally, this wouldn't have been a problem, but we had small children who are unable to sit in tall flimsy seats. One of the charming characteristics is that the restaurant is located in an old building, but this made the chairs extremely wobbly as they were on an uneven brick/cobble stone floor. Our youngest's face was eye level with the high top table.
We asked to be moved to one of the empty tables in the dining room, explaining that our current table wasn't a safe place for our children to sit. We told that they were already spoken for, it was our fault for not explaining we had children in our reservation, and they were unable to shift tables or reservations. We continued to plead our case and that our only complaint was that the high top and chairs were unsafe for two of our children. We were told no over and over until we asked to speak to the manager, who then seated us on sofas near the chilly door. This was a safer option for our family, but not what were expecting or hoping for, which was a standard table. There were several empty tables that remained empty for the duration of our meal. We were quite surprised by the restaurant staff's inability to be flexible.
For the critics reading this, you might believe that this restaurant isn't kid friendly and the lack of hospitality we encountered was directly related to this, however this establishment was recommended by others with children and the provide a kid's menu. We visited QC during a very busy time, which is why we made reservations well in advance and leaving to find another, more accommodating restaurant would have been difficult.
For anyone else with children reading this review, our server was great and our food was delicious, it seems as though our mistake was not indicating we had children in the notes portion of the online...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The only good thing about this place was the location. We ended up opting to sit inside as there was no wait (line up for the patio). We ordered the choice of 3 appetizers, a basket of fries, a beer, a cider, and 1 iced tea. The cider was diluted, beer was ok, and they ended up bringing 2 iced teas (one for someone who was only having water but just said whatever and kept the iced tea). Took ages for the appetizers to arrive. The shrimp appetizer (which we paid an extra $3 for) just tasted like frozen shrimp you could buy at the supermarket. The breaded squid tasted like a completely bland fish stick and the bison bone marrow had less than a single spoonful of marrow and wasn’t even good. We finished all 3 appetizers before the fries arrived which were cold and soggy. The two who had ordered iced tea asked for a refill (which was assumed to be included). During this time, every time we needed help we definitely had to flag down the waiter as he was definitely overworked (though was himself a friendly guy). When he asked how the food was, we gave him our opinion knowing full well it wasn’t his fault and he said he’d take the comments back to the kitchen. When the bill came, we were charged for 4 iced teas at $4 each for a total of $16 for small, non alcoholic drinks. We walked out of there unsatisfied and irritated. We were initially going to order more food after the appetizers but decided against it after eating the horrible food. None of us would recommend this place if you even remotely...
