Our family of four had an excellent meal at La Molette. The food is creative, beautifully presented, made with high quality ingredients, and with lots of heart and skill! The scallop dish (and the unique bread that accompanies it) were particular favorites, along with the tortilla espanola and the berry cheesecake (!!!). Our waitress, Natalia, was kind and attentive. At the end of our dinner, we got talking with her and learned more about restaurant, including that they are especially famous as a bakery. On our last morning in Quebec City, we returned to stock up on pastries and breads to take on the next leg of our trip. Despite buying quite a wide selection, barely any lasted past that morning! We understand the hype. On our return trip, we also heard more about all the different countries that the owners, chefs, and staff originally hail from – a great way to recognize Quebec City as an international community. These distinct backgrounds influence the food and vibe in great ways! Gracias,...

Date of interaction: morning of may 17

My partner and I were excited to try this spot upon arriving to Quebec City. When we entered, no one acknowledged us for at least 10 minutes before offering a table, even though there was no one in line ahead of us, and empty seats available.

While our food was fine and arrived relatively quickly, we were left waiting 30 minutes for our bill after asking for it, for no reason at all. It was not busy, and I could see our server chatting with other employees, cleaning the coffee machine, and doing anything other than get our bill. I even went up to pay after waiting for 20 minutes but he insisted I wait for him to come to the table.

Overall, this really impacted our experience of the restaurant. It felt as though our server did not care about the customer experience, as he did not apologize for the...

We visited La Molette on St-Jean for brunch after seeing strong online reviews and were disappointed by the experience. The pastries looked great, and the place had potential, but the way the seating was handled left us frustrated.

There was no greeting or clear process for restaurant tables — just a pastry line that seemed to double as a waitlist. After standing for about 10 minutes, another couple walked in, spoke briefly with staff, and were immediately shown to a table while we were ignored. When I asked staff why, the responses were dismissive and didn’t address the issue.

We ended up leaving without eating. If the seating is “first come, first served” or if there’s a different process, it should be communicated. Right now it feels disorganized and unfair, which overshadows what could otherwise be a...

We ordered 3 different breakfast dishes and a side of churros. Everything was excellent. Great portion sizes. I really enjoyed the Chilaquiles with the spicy sauce (salsa picosa) with 2 eggs and shredded chicken. I ordered without sour cream, and they were delicious. I love that it came with a mini chapata bread, black beans, and a side of fruit. Very complete meal. The dirty chai was also delicious and well crafted. The churros were crunchy on the outside and warm and soft on inside. Perfect sweet paring. The owners and staff are very friendly. If I lived in Québec I would come here frequently for a latin breakfast!

I was on a work trip, and happily found La Molette. While I usually don't order food due to my many allergies, the incredible chef came to our table to ask about our meals, and to see my allergy card. He was able to make an incredible beet salad; with roasted peppers, a balsamic vinaigrette, with maize on the side. It was incredible! It is very rare that I am able to eat in a restaurant, let alone someone who does see the list of allergies and is able to make something. The wine selection was also great and the server was extremely kind. Would highly recommend a visit here and hope to come back on my next work trip!

We had the vegetable and cheese omelette, which was perfectly fluffy and packed with flavor. It came with a generous side of crispy potatoes, fresh greens, and a warm piece of ciabatta. The refried black beans and tortilla chip added a nice savory touch. The latte was equally impressive—smooth, creamy, and beautifully presented with latte art. We also shared an elephant ear pastry that was crisp, sweet, and flaky—an absolute must-try. The vibe was just right with great background music and warm, attentive service that made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for a cozy and delicious brunch spot!
