Our family of four had an excellent meal at La Molette. The food is creative, beautifully presented, made with high quality ingredients, and with lots of heart and skill! The scallop dish (and the unique bread that accompanies it) were particular favorites, along with the tortilla espanola and the berry cheesecake (!!!). Our waitress, Natalia, was kind and attentive. At the end of our dinner, we got talking with her and learned more about restaurant, including that they are especially famous as a bakery. On our last morning in Quebec City, we returned to stock up on pastries and breads to take on the next leg of our trip. Despite buying quite a wide selection, barely any lasted past that morning! We understand the hype. On our return trip, we also heard more about all the different countries that the owners, chefs, and staff originally hail from â a great way to recognize Quebec City as an international community. My partner and I were excited to try this spot upon arriving to Quebec City. When we entered, no one acknowledged us for at least 10 minutes before offering a table, even though there was no one in line ahead of us, and empty seats available.

It was not busy, and I could see our server chatting with other employees, cleaning the coffee machine, and doing anything other than get our bill. I even went up to pay after waiting for 20 minutes but he insisted I wait for him to come to the table.
Overall, this really impacted our experience of the restaurant. It felt as though our server did not care about the customer experience, as he did not apologize for the...

There was no greeting or clear process for restaurant tables â just a pastry line that seemed to double as a waitlist. After standing for about 10 minutes, another couple walked in, spoke briefly with staff, and were immediately shown to a table while we were ignored. When I asked staff why, the responses were dismissive and didnât address the issue.
We ended up leaving without eating. If the seating is âfirst come, first servedâ or if thereâs a different process, it should be communicated. Right now it feels disorganized and unfair, which overshadows what could otherwise be a...
