Read moreI once found a place in Paris that offered scallop crepes—a rarity even there. So, when I saw scallop crepes on the menu at this restaurant, we had to try it! It became our first meal upon arrival. It was so good that we had to go back for it.
Of course, I ordered the scallop crepes—they were fresh and perfectly made! The homemade sauce was incredible. My partner had eggs benedict crepes with DUCK CONFIT, which I couldn’t stop eating from his plate! If I hadn’t already eaten duck confit three days in a row, I would have ordered it for myself on our second visit. My kids had La Complète with sunny-side-up eggs and bacon, their go-to order, and it was so delicious that I decided to have it the second time as well.
Although the restaurant specializes in crepes, everything else—including dessert—is made with care and love. I didn’t have high expectations when I ordered their hot chocolate, but I was so wrong! Their hot dark chocolate was incredible, even better than some of the hot chocolate I’ve had in Paris.
I had rsvp both times and thanks God we did! They stopped taking walk in for dinner after 6 PM, and did not take any walk in during the morning. This is standard practice in Quebec and it wasn’t an exception here.
The service was great and super friendly! During their busiest time, the waiter didn’t my practicing French with me and my French equals...
Read moreLe Billig was a pleasant surprise of a find when we were in Quebec City. Sure, they offer all the crowd pleasing crepe menu items but it is their house special crepes that really shine. I ordered the "La Bearn" crepe (forgive my incorrect French). The buckwheat crepe was cooked to perfection--slightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Wrapped inside the crepe, the ingredients had their jam session. The mild and stringy goat cheese contrasted with the fresh crispy baby spinach. The duck confit and the onion confit created a savory and sweet combination. It was a delight. My husband ordered the "La Galette Saucisse". The homemade sausage was delicious and the sauce added another layer of complex flavor. We asked the waiter to suggest a cider. He suggested his favorite, which was a very aromatic and flavorful cider, and not even among the more expensive items on their beverage list. Aside from good food and drinks, Le Billig has good people, who care about quality and taking care of customers. It is a down home causal place where we can relax and enjoy a meal, no need to worry about breaking a bank or dressing up. If we had discovered it earlier in our trip, we will go back again and again to try their different dishes. I guess it is one of the reasons to visit...
