I've never been so compelled to write a review before, but my experience here was so wonderful I just had to share. We reserved a seat online and I let them know that our French was bad, but the manager and his team were super accommodating and sent me a message saying it wouldn't be an issue as all the staff is bilingual. I really appreciate that I had the option to reserve a spot and leave a message like that, I think that's a great way of making people feel welcome and accommodated (especially when it comes to people with disabilities or communication barriers).
I came here with my mom for her birthday. We were in town for the weekend and she loves oysters. She says the oysters there were genuinely the best she's ever had - and she's been around! They were fresh, clean, and cool. I ordered the cooked oysters that came with a wasabi mayo and tempura. We didn't think we'd enjoy oysters that were cooked, but they were amazing. Such a good mix of flavors and textures. She also ordered crispy, moist fried chicken that came with 3 great sauces, and I ordered the bone marrow dish. I can't explain how tasty my dish was. The texture and flavor were delightful, and it paired well with the bright, coarse chimichurri and the crunchy bread. I highly recommend it.
We had two servers because we moved spots; William, our first server, recited the whole menu in English so we could understand better. He was great at explaining things and giving recommendations and very friendly. Maxime, our second server, was also very sweet! She gave my mom a free oyster since my mom wanted to keep a shell as a strange souvenir. She had such a positive energy about her - even with the mask on, you could tell her smile was genuine. She also recommended me this delicious minty cocktail and that was a great way to end the night.
The manager was also wonderful - I didn't catch his name but he was very chipper and welcoming. We sat outside first, and then he came and offered us a seat inside when he noticed my mom was getting cold. He also offered to help her on her chair since it was a little high for her. He was really considerate and checked in on us to make sure things were going well.
This is a rare restaurant where everyone working seems to enjoy themselves. It had a wonderful atmosphere and it was very clean. Overall I'm extremely pleased with my experience here. I'm not sure I'll ever have a chance to come to Quebec City again, but if I do, this is definitely the restaurant I'd look forward to the most!

Read moreWe tried to get into La Planque without a reservation right at 5:30 pm when they opened, but they were unfortunately fully booked and told us we could try next door at Le Cendrillon, which has the same owners. Although they were also fully booked, I convinced the host that we were willing to take the table outside and risk getting rained on and boy, was it ever worth it.
The owner of the restaurant ended up serving us, and as a father himself, he was the most accommodating host we’ve ever experienced. Not only did we have the best meal we’ve had in a very long time, he graciously translated the entire menu to us in English, made incredible recommendations AND brought over a little container of toys for our toddler so we could actually enjoy our meal. This was far above and beyond what we possibly could’ve expected from a fine dining establishment like this one. I would give this restaurant 100 stars, if I could.

From the get go, our server Audrey was an excellent host. Our glasses were never left empty and the food just kept coming in. From the first drinks - a magnum of champagne - to the last - a nice big Bodum full of coffee -, everything was perfect. The owner made me a custom cocktail using some liquors I had never tried, and I still cherish the experience. What a wonderful staff you guys have. Let's not forget the Chef and the kitchen staff; the food was A+++, and for the record, we nearly tasted the full menu. The use of blue cheese in the sauce for the meat dish was sublime.
