China House — Restaurant in Red Deer

I live in YYC, was here in Red Deer for the holidays with family and everyone got super sick. With that, we decided to order takeout but it was late as everyone was up and down (napping) all day. I searched Red Deer Foodies on FB and found the top 3 mentioned places for Chinese. 2/3 were closed at 8pm so I went with the one open until 10. China House is the worst Chinese I've ever had. Nothing is housemade, everything was so manufactured and mass produced. It kind of all tasted the same. We ordered ginger beef (chewy and soggy), chicken fried rice (decent and probably the only thing that felt edible) but I mean how can you possibly mess up rice.....well you can and did. Pan fried dumplings - all dough no filling. Lemon chicken......lemon sauce was salty lemon juice with cornstarch to thicken. Nuff said. Ordered General Tao chicken and it was chicken balls tossed in sweet and sour sauce. Spring rolls were 'tough lol. They gave us free crab Rangoon....I didn't even try them so who knows. The lady was very friendly and professional but dear God no. I'm sorry guys but no.....I'd rather support a small family business that does things the old fashioned way. You can...

Disgraceful customer service. We placed an order that we initially were going to have delivered and found out it was going to take 45-60 minutes, so we told them we would pick it up instead. They said that was fine and that it would be ready in approximately 10 minutes. Upon arriving, they could not find our order. After much searching, it was then discovered that the order had gone out for delivery! A wasted trip and much frustration!!

Lemon Chicken was one of the dishes that we ordered. On unpacking, we realized that they did not put the sauce for the dish in. I phoned to let them know and they said "oh, sorry". There was no offer to have some sauce delivered for us or an offer of goodwill for a credit on our next order or anything. Lemon Chicken without the sauce is basically just breaded chicken, so it was essentially a wasted dish.

Very, very disappointing.

UPDATE: I would like to thank the Manager, Jin, for personally contacting me to get to the bottom of this situation. She was very polite and professional, assuring me that the issue would be addressed with her staff. I really appreciate the personal touch in remedying...

Hopefully you remember us, we came in today with our picky little one and ordered the mix and match 6 items, and had an amazing conversation about your delicious food. :)

100% hands down the best chinese, if not the best takeout/fast-food I've ever had, period.

Fresh moist chicken in the amazingly soft fried rice, not those little rock hard stale pieces you get everywhere else, legit real chicken for the chicken balls that are actually chicken and not just breading, not to mention absolutely the friendliest and most helpful server/staff I've ever experienced.

Fresh delicious home made sauce to top it all off, none of this you'll ever get at PF Chang's.

Amazing how a small scale family business can out perform multi million dollar companies, every else needs to take notes from China House.

Not even from red deer but I'll be making the drive more just to get dinner here.
