Humpty's Big Plate Diner - Red Deer — Restaurant in Red Deer

Please, if you have taste buds , don't eat here !! When you walk in , it has a stale smell, that should have been our first red flag. The place was empty and we went around 2.30. I had to switch seats with my son, as the vinyl was peeling off and digging into my legs (I was wearing shorts), the back of the both had a large hole in it . Extremely run down . We started with drinks , I had water , which I can't fault , the rest of the table has Coke , it was dead , no fizz to it whatsoever . I ordered the turkey dinner , which on the menu has a nice photo of what you would expect with a turkey dinner , turkey, stuffing, veg and potatoes . I was asked which sides I wanted , a little confused , I said just the mash and gravy. Well the plate came out with just that , mash and gravy with extra mash and gravy, no veg, and something on the plate that resembled turkey . The food on the plate was all the same shade, my 3 year old asked if I was eating porridge . The "fresh mash " they claimed was runny, and tasted like packet smash . The turkey was squishy . I immediately after one bite told my husband I couldn't eat it and I was sending back. He said he would switch his fish and chips with me . I broke open his fish and almost vomited in my mouth, it was slimy and couldn't differentiate between the inside of the batter and the fish. I sent it back and sat and watched everyone else eat. Now the turkey dinner came with a slice of garlic bread, I don't know why it did but it was tasty. My husband swilled the turkey dinner down whole , and even my 12 month old refused to take a bite . My kids ordered burger and fries , which they said tasted bland . It was like eating rubber (according to my teenager). When it was time to pay the bill , the waitress said she had discounted the fish and chips by 50%, why 50% when I didn't even take a bite , so she agreed to compensate it 100%. The 3 kids meals and the turkey dinner came to $75. My husband dry heaved all the way back to our hotel and didn't feel good after eating, he wanted to send it back too but felt too guilty so ate it. I've never tasted such garbage food , I would rather eat Mc Donald's any day and that's saying a lot. If the food in Humpty's was free, I would...

I used to love the burgers here!! I came once every week or two for a burger. But I just had a burger and they changed the cheese. They used to use real cheese slices. Now they are using processed cheese and not even Kraft slices. It was extremely thick processed cheese and the whole burger tasted of nothing but this cheap generic cheese. I tried to scrape it off but even with just a little bit of that cheese on it was horrible. The waitress is constantly forgetting to bring anything u ask for. Including food that goes with your order. Well your sitting waiting to eat. She's off seating new tables, taking orders or just walking around. Instead of going to get the rest of your order so u can eat. Until she comes to ask u how your meal is. Then u get to tell her I don't know I'm still waiting on food u forgot. I have gone 3 times when she's working since she started and this has happened all 3 times. If u ask her for anything be prepared to wait 10-15 mins. This place has really gone down hill!! It's no wonder they are always empty now!! I guess I need to find a new go...

Went for a meal around 6pm Mar. 14. Waited about an hour to get our meals, and watched others who came a half hour after us receive their food before us. Ordered 2 vegetarian meals (One came with meat on it, the other was cold). Waited 10 or so minutes for the proper meatless meal, ate it and it was quite good, however there was zero effort from the kitchen staff to apologize for practically forcing a vegetarian to eat meat, and in the end no discount or compensation was offered for the terrible experience. Don't get me wrong, the server was working alone while short staffed and she did a fantastic job , but the rest of the experience was awful.

Oh, and the only time one of the kitchen staff made any effort to talk to us was when the one guy stood outside the woman's bathroom waiting for my girlfriend so that he could confront her and passive aggressively "thank her" because she left a bad review while still in the restaurant about our terrible experience.
