Went to pick up a non-veg lunch special. It was $17.75 including taxes (plus the forced tip which is very interesting as it was a pick up order; tips should be optional). I gkt one naam, one tandoori drumstick, rice, buter chicken, daal makhni, and a heave of salad. The food tasted basic and all items were high in sugar content. The worst part was the packaging. Please see the attached picture. Is the dessert meant to be eaten with the rice and salad?! This is a lunch special and given the downtown location it is a no-brainer that its mostly office going folks are ordering it for eating right out of the container. How is a person supposed to eat rice and naan with curries where the gulab jamum was smack in the middle? It was purposely done as the middle section is larger compared to the side sections so that they dont have to fill that with a curry. Well you sont have to fill the sections to the brim anyways! It is very difficult to eat with the sweet syrupy dessert in the middle. No cutlery provided and wasn't even asked if I needed any. Its lunch special!! Not a to go family style order. The competitors around this area sells there lunch deals for $13.95 plus tax or less. This was unusually high for price (I wasnt offered the price on the phone when ordering and when I showed up there was only two customers in the whole restaurant.
I would recommend not going to this place. This seems like another immigration/sinp scam restaurant where te owners have no interest in providing a standard service to their patrons. Also please take down your "fine dine" signage. This run down building with 6-8 tables is not a fine dine...
Read moreThis review is the 1st negative review of my life. I ordered a shrimp fried rice. The sauce was very bad they used. Shrimp fried rice is my favourite dish and eat in almost all restaurants but the smell of the sauce was not so good. I don’t know its usually not good or my luck was bad. I called the server and let her know that i am not feeling good smell is not proper.. i behave with the best politeness and they as well. But I just eat very little amount or tasting amount. I asked for changing the order..the sauce or rice smell to me little bit old.. I was very shy as well. I was very hungry that why i called her and let her know she called a different girl. She told me its usually like this but fried rice is not usually like that. I asked for spicy but i didn’t know that they would use extra sauce to make it spicy. I couldn’t have 3 spoons of my dinner. But i asked that girl can you please change the food but she didn’t changed it… there is something called customer service.. customer service is not like only greetings, serving food with smile and tell them bye with smiling face it about solving customer as well.. i found very lack there.. After she left I try to have another spoon but failed. I didn’t say anything I paid… i told have a good night and left with...
Read moreWent to Dawat India with a friend recently. To begin with, the server was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.
We ordered the lamb biryani and coconut chicken curry. The biryani was decent, not the best I’ve had, but it wasn’t bad either. The coconut chicken curry, on the other hand, didn’t really have any noticeable coconut flavor, which was a bit disappointing. I also ordered a drink, but unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it.
One highlight was the music, really enjoyed it! It added a nice vibe to an otherwise quiet space.
Overall, it was an okay experience. Not somewhere I’d rush back to, but it’s not the...
