I hope people do not support business like this
I do not usually post negative stuff about any restaurant. However, I will today because I believe more people should know and avoid supporting business like that because honestly there’s a lot more restaurants out there with decent service and decent food which we could support/patron.
A few family members and I waited patiently for 20-25 minutes for the large table for a group of 11 (including 3 children). The other half of our party would be arriving soon so when we were seated we quickly browsed the menu so we can place an order first (meanwhile my dad took my toddler out for a walk just because we have been waiting for a bit and she’s getting restless). Barely 5 minutes into the menu and we were about to order when a waitress came over and rudely (I’m saying this because it was all in the time, there’s no “excuse me” no “just need to know” prior) asked “where’s your party, when are they arriving?”. Now at this point I’m pretty sure she’s rushing us and was not happy my party was not there yet. However, I also gave her the benefit of doubt, so I calmly and politely asked her “I’m sorry, we just were just seated and are you telling me someone waiting for our table.” She rudely confirmed that “yes we have a lot of people waiting”. At this point, I told my family that we will just leave and go next door.
5 minutes later, I walked back and saw “our” table was still empty. And the other big table beside “ours” also has been emptied. Simply say, I’m sure there’s no big party waiting because I was at the entrance waiting from the very beginning and only two small family after me. Also, it’s definitely not a phone reservation ( I doubt this place does that) because if so, why weren’t we notified? And even if it is, shouldn’t they be polite and ask about the rest of our party? Don’t get me wrong, I do not mind if they have asked politely and I know how it is in restaurant business which is why we weren’t gonna wait for the rest of the party to order. Also, I walked back in and spoke to another waitress who is just as rude. I told them off about how this is not the way to run a business and walked away.
15 minutes later (i was still outside waiting for a table at the other restaurant) that table we left was still empty! What a laugh!
This is the kind of business that runs inside a “restaurants plaza” and think they can be as rude because people will still patron that place. Which to me is very sad. I’m not expecting like level A service here, just expected to be treated with respect and equally which I think this business...
Read moreMy buddies and I came here for brunch on the civic holiday Monday, as we were craving for a Hong Kong style brunch. This is a simple family run eatery, a classic Hong Kong “cha chan tang” serving your usual Cantonese spread with some Hong Kong breakfast items.
We got the XO Seafood Fried Rice, seafood cream & cheese baked rice, 2 Hong Kong style French toasts and 4 Hong Kong milk teas. A complimentary big bowl of soup is served to every customer upon arrival, whereby the soup is made with pork broth which we omitted it due to dietary restrictions.
The fried rice is of a portion size that will easily fill 2 people, accompanied with generous seafood in it and packed with strong wok hei that you can already hear through the loud exhausts and constant metal clanking while waiting for you food.
The cheese baked rice was a surprise to us as it’s not necessarily a native Cantonese dish, yet it was done well with generous seafood stuffed in it, while not overly done with cream cheese like how a stereotypical American place would likely do it.
As for the French toasts, I love how the layer was fluffy yet not too oily or overly sweet. A perfect pair with the complimentary table syrup served on the table and the HK milk tea.
The total bill came to about $60, for all the food that fed 4 young men including the drinks and French toast dessert. The staff was not only friendly, they were also honest and their recommendations did not fail us.
This might be my favourite no frills cha chan tang spot which would have been a bonus if it was nearer to...
Read moreTo be honest, the food was okay for me, and I have no complaints about its quality. However, I was surprised to discover that the restaurant only accepts cash payments, a fact they didn't mention beforehand. This forced me to make an electronic transfer to settle my bill, and I generously tipped 18% based on the food's price before tax.
What bothered me was that they added the tax to the bill afterward. It's clear to me that they only accept cash to avoid paying taxes, which left a sour taste in my mouth. When I inquired about this with one of the staff members, he had a dismissive attitude.
In addition, my partner experienced gastrointestinal discomfort, needing to use the restroom twice immediately after the meal.
In summary, my experience was marred by the unexpected cash-only policy, the questionable tax calculation, and the unhelpful staff attitude. This, coupled with my partner's discomfort, left us with a sense of dissatisfaction, and we found the restaurant to be poorly managed and...
