I have been to this restaurant several times over the course of ~2.5 years. The quality of food has not been changed since.

Food: Not a lot of selections, but since they are specialized in Soon Tofu that's understandable. Besides Soon Tofu, they also have dumplings, seafood pancake, pork bone soup, bibimbap, bulgogi etc to choose from. I have always come here for soon tofu. It is delicious. Tofu is very silky and the base is favorful. I choose the combination soon tofu which has beef, shrimp, and mussels. There are 5 different spice level to choose from and I usually get the medium. My husband usually orders the bibimbap and he likes it. Seafood pancake is big and tasty as well, lots of contents. Overall, the portion is good. For side dishes, they are ok, have bean spouts, radish, beans, and kimchi. One thing that I don't like is they usually give us the side dishes and our main dishes at the same time. Because the service can be slow at times, I wish we can get the side dishes first while we are waiting.

Setting: comfortable decor. Feels clean. Has highchair for use. Have booth or regular tables and chairs to choose from. Washroom is decent and clean.

Parking: abundant of parking spots

Staff: So far only one staff has limited English, but ok with ordering, good that she repeated to confirm what our table ordered. All other times are fine. Staff are friendly. Usually it seems like they only have one front desk and one waiter, so service can be slow when the restaurant is more busy.

Waiting times: there was never a line up. I have been there lunch and dinner, on weekdays or weekends.

Overall: a nice korean restaurant with good portion vs value, and I will go back whenever I...

Food, not bad and pretty standard, but service is really why this restaurant deserves (less than) one star.

Came here for my friend’s birthday. We were a party of 10 and food took 45 minutes to an hour to arrive. We understood it was a larger group, but did not expect that long of a wait, especially since the restaurant was not full at all — only 3 to 4 other tables were filled with smaller parties (like parties of 2s and 3s). Two of our friends ordered the bulgogi meal and one was given a larger portion than the other. We asked the waiter about it and was told that the chef cooked them together and split them unevenly, and that they will not be fixing the portion size. The waiter did offer us a discount because of this issue so we moved on from it, despite waiting almost an hour for food.

We brought a cake with us for the birthday girl and when we mentioned it to the waitress that we were ready for it to be served, she brought the cake still in the box to the uncleared table and roughly handed it to one person at the table. We asked if we could get the table cleared first and have the cake cut, to which the waitress responded with “we are so busy,” and walked away, without clearing anything from the table or any further explanation/solution. Throughout the entire night (we were there from approximately 7pm to 9:15pm), the restaurant only had 3-4 tables of 2 or 3 to serve. The two people working the floor did not seem to have a good handle on things, but it was really the waitress’s attitude that made all of us decide we will never return to...

This restaurant tucked away and hidden from everyone is an absolute GEM. As soon as we entered we were greeted with a huge smile and great service. We took our seats and with in seconds had a nice warm cup of tea that was absolutely DELICIOUS. I had never been to a restaurant that does food this particular way, and was confused when ordering, but the staff were so patient and helped us with the menu process never making us feel out of place or like a burden. We never felt rushed AT ALL. When the food came out the staff helped show us how the process works: they brought out a BOILING soup like entree, a dish with some eggs, some side dishes, and a huge stone pot with rice. It was honestly so much fun and there was SO much food. The staff regularly came back to see if we needed any more side dishes and if everything was okay. For the price, the amount of food, the quality of service, and the experience... it is impossible to find something less than perfect to describe this restaurant. We will be definitely returning regularly and recommend that anyone wanting a warm, welcoming environment, incredible food, amazing prices, and service that is unmatched... Kim's Tofu...

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Kim’s Tofu! My mom and I shared the Combination Soon Tofu (mild), which came with beef, mussels, and shrimp, served alongside hot stone pot rice. My brother ordered the Seafood Soon Tofu (spicy), packed with shrimp, mussels, and oysters also with that signature stone pot rice. One of the servers (possibly the owner) kindly pointed out the crispy barley rice at the bottom of the hot stone pot and recommended eating it for both its taste and health benefits, a great tip! When the food arrived, we were more than ready to dig in. The soon tofu was flavourful and comforting, and the seafood was cooked just right. The banchan (side dishes) were a perfect complement to the meal, it was tasty, varied, and refilled upon request. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. We left full and happy. Definitely recommend stopping by Kim’s Tofu if you’re in the mood for hearty, satisfying Korean comfort food!

Edit: I came by last week (Dec 2023) and it was fairly crowded. The one waitress welcomed two tables after us and didn't take our order for more than 10 min. This wouldn't typically be a problem, but she waited on the two tables that came in after us even though she saw we were visibly upset after she took the first tables order. We left without ordering as it appeared she was deliberately ignoring us to make a point (having then waited on the second table). She was probably overworked and having a rough day but we weren't in the mood to put up with that. This is an amazing family run Korean restaurant. It's tucked away in the center alley of this plaza. We have been coming here for years and would say it's probably the best in Richmond Hill for soon tofu and bibimbap. It has a very focused menu and I always order the bibimbap (with no meat) or the vegetable soon tofu. They also have some small items for purchase.
