I wanted to come to this restaurant several times before I did. It looks really big from the front and side & back š Finally I went on February 14. My first impression was overwhelmingly starstruck with how insanely busy this place can be. It should be awesome right? Food should be amazing right ? And customer service should be absolutely perfect to hold such a huge crowd.
Unfortunately the excitement stopped when we were seated at our table. Servers seemed busy and all had an attitude, meanness to them. Some of them were sarcastic & snarky. When we were asked to move tables (there were a lot of empty tables and they put us in a tiny table in a corner) server ignored and walked away. When asked again, she said: āNo you canāt. They called.ā Eventually we got moved to a bigger table. My friend walked fast and I took some pics so I was wandering around. Server was literally yelling: āWhat are you doing? Where are you going?ā And shook her head. I suddenly felt like a kid again and suffered my momās scolding.
It was unreal!!! But the most interesting thing was 40ā mins after ordering, we only had water. Server kept yelling at me for some reasons. She almost fell or dropped something, she said it was my fault. At this point, all eyes on her. I didnāt know what happened to her or what to respond. I had told my friend before ordering that I had a feeling food would be bad. Therefore donāt order a lot and we could go somewhere after this. Talking about food, the price isnāt cheap. Itās quite up there like Turtle Jackās.
After an hour without food, and constants disdain from servers, I felt like I had enough. Oh there was a male server who checked on everyone around us, but us!!! I told him we didnāt get food and itās 1 hour already. He asked: āAm I your server?ā And stared at me š I had a surreal sensation that made me feel like Iām living in a matrix. I had never encountered this kinda treatment (I donāt know if they are being racist) or sarcasm in restaurant. I didnāt feel bad or sad. It was very different experience for me.
I left after 1 hr something without even my drink served. What a bizarre place to be in!
I donāt recommend if you are old or new to the area! There are similar restaurants with comparable price and way better service!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI often pass by this spot and keep saying we'll give it a try and the day finally came! We visited as a party of 5, around 5:45 pm and there were visibly lots of available tables but the restaurant itself is also quite big and spacious. Ambiance reminds me of iHop, with a slight diner-vibe. There's also TVs running all around the place which was great since the Olympics are currently going on.
We got promptly seated in an area that wasn't far from other guests but because of the partitions, it felt private, which was really nice. We essentially had that area to ourselves until the last 15-30 minutes of our meal.
First off, I would like to commend them on the service we received. Our waitress was absolutely fantastic and very responsive. She was also very attentive and made sure to check on us, ensure our glasses of water never ran dry, and even inquired if we needed any extra sauces (e.g. ketchup or jam). She really made this experience a pleasant one.
The menu for this place is BIG and there's guaranteed to be something for everyone. Before coming, I always knew this place as an all-day breakfast spot but I was pleasantly surprised to see they offer Greek dishes as well. The prices are on the higher side but the portions made up for it. I personally ordered the calamari dinner which was said to be a "lighter fare" but the portion was huge and I was STUFFED. The calamari was well-fried without any excess grease and easy to chew. The rice was flavorful and the salad was a good portion and fresh, though I wish the tomatoes were cut smaller. It also came with garlic bread that was like Texas toast - which was so warm and soft, as well as being full of flavor. Overall, I was very pleased with my meal. I also snuck some fries off my sister's plate and they were really good - reminded me of McDonald's fries and were seasoned well without being too salty. I just wanted to mention though that two members of our table ordered the steak and Caesar with a medium cook but both seemed a little overdone and ultimately, drier and hard to chew.
The place was clean upon a glance, but I was just bothered by a mosquito/fly that was buzzing around.
This is a pretty awesome joint to have open 24/7 on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmazing customer experience to report: from the moment I called Markham station in Richmond Hill at Elgin Mills an Yonge I had a most articulate, clear speaking, caring and menu educated take out specialist on the phone. This young man was even more pleasant in person when I came to pick up my order, as he Made suggestions gave opinions and alongside assurance regarding order specifications. Truly they teach us that the first impression doesnāt start with walking in the door but it begins with either on the phone or what correspondence is involved on in an email. After taking the meal home I was so excited about the roast potatoes as I am a Gen X, from Toronto, and have not had proper roast potatoes sin back in the day when Astoria made these succulent buttery melton your mouth roast potatoes well let me tell you potato lovers ⦠Run donāt walk to this restaurant you will never get a potato like this in fact if you make something on the barbeque rather than order a main course from this fantastic establishment get the roast potatoes the managers name is John he has a fabulous background and takes pride in what he does in the restaurant and how the brand Markham station is represented he does not mess around and has an extreme amount of knowledge regarding proper food temperature and take-out containers. John was friendly also extremely knowledgable about the menu and a pleasure to have at the helm of this ship as most people are no longer able to talk about their family and pride in their jobs instead most people working in restaurants especially in Richmond Hill or more concerned with making a profit or dealing with those of their own ācommonā culture - Not the case for this manager he is a restaurant manager for the people he is an old school competent and kind person that wants you to love and enjoy the food at Markham Station. He cares about building a clientele and keeping a good customer happy that for me is equal to how the food tastes but the food that I and my father enjoyed was above and beyond quality.
