Today is the Pi Day special - small Margherita pizza for 3.14 with a maximum of 2 per person. It's 11:45 am and they are still making pizzas instead of serving customers, even though 12 small Margherita pizzas are sitting on the counter waiting to be put in the oven. There are 9 people already lined-up in front of me (with others lining behind me) and still NO pizzas in the oven!! Totally ridiculous as they opened at 11 am. At 11:48 am, all 4 employees go to the back of the store. They eventually come out and 2 are discussing something while others resume setting up the store. Finally at 12 noon, the first set of pizzas go in the oven after sitting on the counter for 1 hour. I don't understand why they could not put pizzas in the oven as soon as a few were made so that customers who were waiting since 11 am could be served and the line would be kept moving along. There was no legitimate reason for having to wait 45 minutes, which resulted in a crowded line-up of at least 30 to 40 people crammed in a tiny store. This is a fire hazard!!
When I got home, I checked out the pizzas (see below). Scant toppings....if this is the standard for a small pizza at the regular price of 14.00, it is definitely NOT worth the drive or wait. Does it taste good? Well, you can smell and taste the basil, olive oil, and dough..not so much the cheese. Not a fan of floppy pizza either. Be warned that the so called special is on only until 3:14 pm, plus you have to show the cashier that you have the app loaded on your phone to get the pizza for 3.14. Too many restrictions from pizza choice to time limits.
The last picture shows what you can get for 3.14 at Pizza Nova. Pictured here are cheese, vegetarian, and meat lovers slices (pepperoni was not purchased). Each double sliced pizza is 3.14, no matter which toppings you order. Plus, the toppings are generous. The pizzas were made while I was waiting and thus, they were fresh. Plus, there was no line-ups, no requirement to load the app on your phone, no restrictions on the number of slices you can purchase, and available all day.
Next year, I won't bother with Pi Co. The lack of choices, line-up, long drive, and no sense of punctuality and organizational skills on the part of the employees was...

Read more“ PI-CO, Richmond Hill '' - Craft your own pizza using Margherita Pizza Dough and San Marzano Tomato Sauce as base.
My first encounter with this company’s product was inside Fairview Mall, years ago. At that time, due to its novelty concept and decent quality, it created quite a huge pizza lover following! Nowadays, with good pizza places sprouting up everywhere in town, at a dime a dozen. Their original appeal has since greatly diminished.
Today, whilst running errands, I accidentally stumbled on a relatively new branch of theirs next to Richmond Hill Costco. After a long hiatus and realizing I still have room in my stomach after a light lunch, I decided to give myself an afternoon treat
My ‘ Craft-my-own ‘ pizza consisted of topping a regular Margherita ( San Marzano sauce, Fior Di Latte Mozzarella, Fresh Basil ) with additional savory ingredients….. Kalamata Olives, Pepperoni, Bacon, Roasted Red Peppers and Mushrooms. Pity they no longer offer my favorite topping….Anchovies! Sigh!
Using a specially designed 700F oven, the end product emerges from the furnace in less than a minute…..nicely charred and piping hot. The light dough was perfectly salty to my liking and the texture was pleasantly chewy. Superb sauce and a generous amount of good quality Buffalo Mozzarella rounded off my positive comments!
Service was extremely friendly and helpful!
Overall, a very enjoyable product. In addition to my go-to Hong Kong Cafe style afternoon tea option, I have now one more close-to-home option available for...
