I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding a highly unsatisfactory experience we encountered while celebrating a birthday party at your Richmond Hill location on Saturday, May 3rd.
Initially, we experienced considerable difficulty in contacting your booking staff. Despite numerous attempts to reach them by telephone, our calls went unanswered, and no calls were returned. Consequently, it became necessary to visit the restaurant in person to make a reservation. Even then, the booking manager was unavailable, and a message left on our behalf did not result in a follow-up. It was only after persistent efforts that we were finally able to secure a reservation.
Upon our arrival on Saturday for the scheduled party, we were informed that our reserved table had been allocated to another party without any prior notification. We had specifically requested a semi-private room, as the private room was already booked. The alternative table offered was not suitable for our needs.
Furthermore, upon the arrival of our guests, there was a significant delay in taking orders for beverages and salads. Throughout the evening, the service provided by our assigned waitress appeared to be markedly inattentive. We consistently experienced lengthy waits for the delivery of drinks and other requested items.
The meat service also proved to be considerably delayed. We waited an extended period before the initial meat selections were served to our table. The staff circulating with the meat did not appear to acknowledge our presence, often passing by our table without offering service. On numerous occasions, we had to actively call their attention to request service. We had two young children in our party who desired chicken, and despite repeated requests, there was a substantial delay before this was served. The children were understandably distressed by the time the chicken finally arrived. In an attempt to address these issues, we sought to find a manager, but were unsuccessful. We spoke with several other waitresses to request improved service, but there was no discernible positive change. These issues collectively detracted significantly from the celebratory atmosphere of the birthday party.
From our initial attempts to make a reservation to the substandard service received during the event, we felt unwelcome. The overall customer service was severely lacking.
Due to this deeply disappointing experience, we have no intention of returning to Touro Richmond Hill in the future, nor would we recommend it as a venue for hosting parties. It is our opinion that patrons are not treated with the level of care and attention one would expect, even when intending to spend money at your establishment. It would appear that new or returning clientele...
Read moreI had a tough time reviewing this. Service was amazing, the 'gimmick' of servers coming tableside with a rotating cast of meats was great, our waitstaff was prompt, polite and really delivered on the 'service with a smile' saying. Atmosphere was also on point for a mother's day Brunch. It's a well constructed, well put together restaurant.
I can't however, give it more than a 3 star, no matter how much I want to give it 4.
First, and maybe this was because it was mother's day brunch, but selection felt limited. It gave the feeling of a hotel free breakfast with the rotating steak cuts. Now, ordinarily, that's fine: so long as the steak is on point, little else matters. And here's where it goes downhill.
First the picanha. Looked great, had a crust, was well seasoned. Overcooked to the extreme, with zero pink, and, well the meat was entirely grey. Tough as leather, but with an amazing flavor. Disappointing, considering picanha should be the star of the show.
Second meat we got was the top sirloin. It was fine, nothing incredibly special, but with no real downsides either.
Third, some bacon wrapped thing. The piece I got: all ligament, and not the good kind. Chewy, and well, bacon was good I guess?
Fourth, the parmesan steak. Surprisingly decent, no complaints here, just not to my palate. Perfectly acceptable.
Fifth, garlic steak. Only complaint is there was a large fat cap, which, with the amount of meat being served, had to be cut off. Not really a downside though. Otherwise, my favorite from the tableside meats.
Sixth, spicy steak: inconsistent spices on the meat. A party member's piece was not spicy, with only a bare hint of spice near the end, whereas my piece had so much spice it almost was like jerk! Tenderness was fine though.
All in all, with no real standout meats, and some being disappointing, the grill section was a let down.
This is further exacerbated by the fact that the counter items, which I previously compared to a hotel breakfast, outshone the specialty grill items.
Counter items: Scrambled egg was decent Quinoa salad was tasty French toast was par for the course Roast beef... that's the star of the show. Tender, juicy, succulent... immaculately seasoned with just enough char for flavour... the roast beef carried that.
So that's my review. In essence, the brunch was acceptable. While the main attraction was entertaining, it ultimately was let down by poor meat quality, both in cut and doneness; and was overshone by the counter items, namely the roast beef.
If considering coming here for brunch, I hesitantly agree for the first time: it provides a unique dining experience, with food that is a mix of good and mediocre. For dinner I cannot comment, but it isn't a...
Read moreSo, I’ve been to numerous Brazilian steakhouses around the world and have to say this place is in the top 3. You can tell that there is quality in every aspect of this restaurant from the design and materials, to the exceptional private washrooms, to the incredible illuminated bar, the flatware and awesome cutlery, amazing lighting and flooring and even the buffet equipment is top notch. These guys are an example of doing everything right with the staff most pleasant and knowledge and dressed so professionally. You also have a huge window into the kitchen which I find fantastic. And there place is spotless everywhere you look. Now, the food, starting with the table service. Every item available was eaten and the result was perfection - perfect cook and temperature as well as seasoning and texture. Oddly enough I have to say, their cinnamon sugars roasted pineapple was crazy delicious and loved it like crazy. The included buffet was also quite impressive in terms of the quality, freshness, flavour and texture, and presentation. There is just way too much to list but what stood out for me was the amazing mussels and shrimp in what seemed like white wine and sautéed with a trinity of veg. I also tried for the fun of it the Mac and cheese. Though it was seasoned and cooked well it was a little dry and lacked sufficient coverage of shreds sauce - this is the only criticism I have on their food. Quinoa salad, amazing. Hot dishes were delicious and plentiful. All I can say is this - yes, the price is more than going to the Keg for a steak, however, the difference of the added buffet, the amazing (desert) pineapple, and the variety of endlessly high quality delicious meats, sausage, and poultry make these two places on even ground from a price perspective. At the end of the day this place also offers a lovely expertise and an squally lovely atmosphere even for a first date or anniversary and even a party as they have a killer party room that’s private yet the divider is see through and stunning. Wine selection and beer also was well selected with prices at the norm. So, if you want a lovely evening with great food and atmosphere etc… go here and enjoy and you too will feel compelled to write an amazing review because you enjoyed yourself so much. Good eats to you and enjoy.
