We have been coming here for over 6 years. It is very unfortunate that our experience last weekend ruined our first anniversary celebration with our daughter.
We were told high chairs weren’t allowed in the dining area, and that we would need to sit in the lounge area if we wanted a high chair. The area is next to the bar with louder music so I said no we will go to the dining area. We basically had to choose between this or having our daughter in our laps. I noticed that right next to us, there was a table with a chair basically in the middle of the walking aisle. If a high chair was put beside us, it would not stick out as much. A female manager came so I simply i asked what the reason was for no high chairs. Then very firmly she says “the high chair will stick out to here. It’s a fire hazard”. I said “but isn’t that not as far as that chair”. Then without any explanation she just very abruptly says “one second” and leaves. I never saw her again. As a manager, she did not think it was important enough to just answer and instead walked away and sends another manager when there was no argument. I asked the male manager the same question. Everytime he would just say “I was not the one in that conversation, I have another table for you”. I kept saying I am just asking what the reason is and he would refuse to even provide any sort of explanation. He kept saying “I am sure she explained it very well to you”. He did not even want to listen or acknowledge that she may not have handled the situation the best. As a manager, I found that very disrespectful and unprofessional as he was not even giving the customer any understanding and instead, came to a conversation that he was not a part of to say he knows she did everything right when she didn’t. Yet every time I asked him for a reason he would say he was not a part of the conversation he is sure she is very aware of a fire hazard and if that’s the reason she gave then that’s what it is. He just continuously kept saying we can move to another table with our food and baby & that the discussion was between me and the female manager. I was genuinely so confused as to why he came if he did not even want to give me his own explanation. I felt so bad because I did not know that asking a manger a simple question could result in all this. I had no intentions of arguing, I simply was wondering why this was the case as it did not make sense. As I was speaking to him, the guy sitting there moved back to get out and the aisle was completely obstructed. Meanwhile a high chair can’t move. After, another person sat there and left the chair untucked and the waitress tucked it in. The manager just left after I declined another table (not offered to us when we first got there).
Later, the male manager came back to say dinner was free and he doesn’t want us to leave having a bad experience especially on our anniversary. I calmly explained that I wish he would have just been more open to listening to me instead of assuming that everything was handled correctly. And I said I just had a simple question no one wanted to answer.
I have spoken to guest relations and they are working to make things right. The culinary manager even told me that high chairs are allowed and this should be have never happened / been dealt with this way. . Online it ways the same, that they are family friendly, and there’s no relation to fire hazards.
I acknowledge that our dinner was paid for and that things are being dealt with but I still think it was wrong and is worth it for other families to be aware. No amount of free meals can make up for our anniversary being completely ruined. Not to mention, it just felt as if they did not want me to escalate it further because they knew it was wrong. I never expected to be treated this way by managers of all level, especially at the Keg, and I don’t think we will ever feel comfortable returning to this location especially after how they treated us. Truly disappointing as we have always come here for every celebration and were starting a tradition with...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at the Keg in Richmond Hill recently with a group of six colleagues for a team meeting, and I must say that our experience was nothing short of exceptional, all thanks to the outstanding service provided by Rebecca C.
From the moment we walked in, Rebecca's warm and welcoming smile set the tone for what would be an unforgettable evening. She promptly escorted us to our table, which had been prepared to perfection, ensuring that we were all comfortably seated and had everything we needed to start our meeting.
Rebecca's attentiveness throughout the evening was truly remarkable. One thing that stood out the most was Rebecca's impeccable timing. She had an uncanny ability to anticipate our needs, refilling our glasses, clearing empty plates, and ensuring that our evening flowed seamlessly. It's rare to find a server who strikes the perfect balance between being attentive without being intrusive, and Rebecca mastered this art effortlessly.

This Keg location has solidified its crown as our family’s go-to for celebration. We are spoiled by the superb quality of the steaks and prime steak, which unfortunately other locations can not compared with. The service is mostly great and attentive. This location is extremely busy and sometimes the server could do a little better but it is understandable due to the circumstances.
(Initial comment on Feb, 2022. Edited on May 1st as noticed management team responded. Recent update again on June, 2022) Background info : Our visit in February was below average in terms of food quality and service. Management team got back to us in May to discussed and invited us to revisit for a better experience.
On June 19th we visited again to celebrate Father’s Day and our younger son reaching 6 months old. My older son was asleep when we arrived, host was very quick to make adjustments so we get a different table to comfortably dine on. We had the french onion rib steak from the 50th anniversary menu, a 20oz boned in and some mocktails. The French Onion steak was an interesting culinary experience, you do get best of both worlds without the need to order two items. The portion was big and steaks were done right (asked for rare). We couldn’t even finished the double baked potato (all time favorite side dish). Despite I briefly mentioned that our son turned 6th month old, our server generously offered complimentary dessert to celebrate for us. One note it was full size slice of cake, it was big enough for 3 adults to share so kudos for not cheaping out on free food. Dining at the Keg is not cheap, but the service and food definitely lives up to the price. Other than the visit in Feb, every visits to Keg in past 20 years have been consistently good. I would not earn 5 stars because Keg is comfortable place to dine at and good, but not spectacular. There are some steakhouses in Toronto which I would give 5 stars, but a meal would cost double. So, if I need to celebrate birthdays with a nice pieces of steak, Keg would be the...
