We came here for dinner with my bf’s entire family. We thought it’d be another casual Chinese restaurant but boy were we wrong. When you first enter the restaurant, you can’t help but admire the traditional customary Chinese decor with the dark red wood, spinning table with matching wooden chairs. Before I dive into the food review, I’d have to give credit to the chef for his hospitality and we couldn’t believe our ears when we heard that he used to cook for the emperor of China, hence the name “emperors kitchen”. The worst restaurant in Richmond. My friend made a reservation for his birthday. We had 12 people, when we got to the restaurant they arranged a table that can only fits 8 people for us. We asked them if they have bigger table for us, and they said "no, that's our biggest table". We asked if we can sit separately in two tables, the owner said "no, we are very busy today".Then WHY did you take our reservation at the first place??? We went for lunch and tried many dishes. Overall we liked the meal but for some of the dishes we preferred it at other restaurants. Like the water cooked spicy fish szechuan style we prefer at another place.
