It was a bitter sweet dining experience.
We had a reservation but I wasn’t greeted by any server to get my seat. I had to “catch” two servers in action and ask for my table. They provided some guests with treats like peanuts and sunflower seeds due to the long wait time but not for our table.
They also allowed dogs at the indoor dining area without confirming with other guests about potential allergies…the ladies that brought those dogs said they were service dogs but…I had my doubts (also according to policies, dogs should be placed in outdoor dining areas).
Food arrived very slow. We had to stare at a plate of Chinese fried donut for like 30-40 minutes until next dish came. The tastes were decent but the Peking duck slices were a bit too thick. Other dishes were good and authentic.
When we about to leave, a strong cigarette smell appeared from no where. We weren’t sitting beside a window. So either someone smoked indoor or their ventilation needs improvement.
I shared my thoughts and complaints with the lady in charge and she apologized. I appreciate their attitude. So 2 stars turned into 3 stars. I recommend the food here but be prepared that the overall dining experience will not match the...
Read moreWe celebrated the Lunar New Year at this restaurant, and the Peking duck was tasty and sliced well, but our experience quickly soured after. After the duck, we had to inquire before other dishes started arriving, and two hours after our meal started and three inquiries later, one dish still never showed up. In the meantime, another table of guests started smoking indoors, which was quite unpleasant for us. Finally, we had wanted a dish of vegetables with our food, and our waiter recommended garlic stir-fried brocoli at the beginning of the meal. We didn't realize until the bill came that this dish cost $35. Not checking the price was on us, but this is a basic dish, and the price is extremely steep at about double to triple what many nearby restaurants would charge.
Judy, the manager on duty, tried to make it up to us and was very apologetic for the negative experience, and we appreciated the gesture. The staff were also generally friendly and attentive. We really wanted this to be a positive experience, but in the end, we felt that the negatives outweighed the...
Read moreHad lunch here and wow — the Peking duck was next level! We called ahead and they started prepping the duck right away, no reservation needed. Super friendly staff, and the chef carving the duck was amazing — he explained everything, even told us to dip the crispy skin in sugar, it was SO good and really helped cut through the fattiness!
The duck skin was incredibly crispy, the pancake wraps were thin and authentic, and the zhajiang noodles were also delicious and traditional.
Bonus: they gave us complimentary desserts (double skin milk + mung bean cake) — not too sweet, just right. Food: 5/5, no question. Service: Good overall, carving chef was awesome. Vibe: Only thing that could be better. Decor’s a bit chaotic (red vintage walls + Western chairs + dark blinds), and the entrance was confusing — elevator broken, chairs stacked at the door. I think the duck carving show is a highlight — if they had a more inviting entrance or made it more visible from the street, I think it could attract even more people. But honestly? The food is so good, I’m already planning...
