There is not too many breakfast joints in Richmond that does it quite as well as Breakfast Table Steveston (BTS). The food here is a fusion of egg benedicts, potatoes, and dash of Korean/Chinese. I've had brunch at BTS twice so far. Egg benedicts are what's most popular on the menu. So far I've tried the "Albacore Tuna Tataki", the "Salt-Pepper Prawn", and the "Japanese Mushroom" benedicts. On both separate occasions, the seafood (albacore tuna & salt-pepper prawn) was cooked just right (tuna was not overcooked and prawns were well seasoned). Although I'm not a big fan of benedicts, I really enjoyed the "Salt-Pepper Prawn", which says a lot. The "Japanese Mushroom" benedict made it a good vegetarian choice. But the aburi rice served beneath the "Albacore Tuna Tataki" did not really resonate with me. Also tried the "Beef Bulgogi Hash"...not what I expected. On the surface, there's the warm sweet/spicy beef bulgogi with egg. However, as you scoop down further you're hit with the cold kimchi mixed in with the hash hiding underneath. The tastes of the sweet/spicy bulgogi plus kimchi made this dish too one-sided. I would have preferred steaming white rice hiding beneath in contrast, and a wet yolk sunny side up on the surface (bibimbap style). The "BT Omelette" is my son's favorite and I second the motion! The bacon, mushrooms and smoked cheddar wrapped in the omelette comes together really well. We enjoyed this dish so much that we had it on both separate occasions. The hash was always nicely done (well seasoned and right level of crisp). On both separate occasions, we had Michael taking our orders and presenting the features on the menu. There is also another Michael who is the BTS Owner greeting customers at the table. The comradery and atmosphere at BTS are genuine and very welcoming.

For all the great reviews, I was really expecting something at least decent. I was shocked. Good things first, the price was reasonable and the staff very pleasant. The ambiance is great, with plenty of space and comfortable, clean seating. I ordered an iced Americano, and while it was too dark for my liking, it was pleasant. Onto the food. The chicken and waffles were simply not good. The chicken itself was fine, but the yuzu sauce was strange (perhaps too salty?) and definitely didn't mesh well with the waffle. This is coming from somebody who rates kaarage as their favorite fried chicken variety (with yuzu mayo for dip, of course). The waffle was also a huge miss, as it was very doughy and dry--I could not finish it. Oh and there's cheese on it? I don't know what the reason for that is, but personally I felt it was a bad combination. The steelhead trout was a mess. The fish was fine, but that's just a small portion of torched raw fish--you can't mess it up. The sushi rice, which made up the majority of the plate, was clearly day-old and literally hard. I thought the sauce was good, despite it having an overpowering amount of liquid smoke in it. The mushroom benny was probably the best thing of the bunch, but it too was far from good. The sauce was a Bearnaise, which was interesting for a benedict given its thicker texture but the flavor was good (very tarragon forward). The amount and variety of mushrooms were also good. The potatoes were decent, but tasted either old or too greasy--something I'd expect at a lower-priced diner than a fancy brunch bar. Perhaps a more classic Benedict would have been better. Tldr: come for the ambiance, not for the food.

This was my first time here. My wife had been here before. We arrived around 12pm and waited just a few minutes and then seated immediately by a wonderfully friendly host. We sat next to the floor to ceiling windows. We ordered the white peach soda and iced mocha. Both were quite good. Nina our server is absolutely wonderful. She was friendly and was able to provide good advice for what to eat. I was intrigued by the Japanese mushroom Benedict so I ordered that and my wife ordered the Hipster Benedict. My goodness, my Benedict was so good. I'd even say that it was one of the best Benedict I have ever had. My wife says her hipster Benedict was quite delicious as well. There was nothing wrong with our meals. From the crispy English muffins to the creamy bernaise to the fresh well seasoned ingredients. This meal was amazing. The place was very busy but our meals came in reasonable time. The one and only con was that it was quite warm because of the bodies in the restaurant and the air conditioner must've been working overtime. Can't help that. As well it was nice that we had our own carafe of ice cold water so we aren't having to bother the busy servers for that. I want to go back and try the other delicious looking offerings. The staff, the food and the restaurant is 5 star! Thank you Breakfast Table.
