So we went to this place during our trip to Vancouver. With the reviews on YELP, it sounded good. Well, that's further from the truth. Why they call this place "HAPPY" Tree House....I don't know. When we first walked in--no smiles from the waitstaff. My husband told him this was our first time here, and no response or recommendations or even how to order.
Prior to even picking this place--we looked on YELP. We thought when we order, we can actually grill our own skewers since we saw this grill like thing at the end of the table and wondered how to turn it on... the waitress told us it's ok and it's on. HUHHHH??? They actually pre-cooked for you and the flavoring was ALL THE SAME and dry. We couldn't tell what meat we chose. My kids couldn't eat any of it, and ended up going to get a HAPPY MEAL from McD's for them so they can eat on the way back to the States.
At least my kids were happy, but this place sucks and their music on their TV monitor was so loud as well. Never will we go back to this place.
One, no communication what so ever and the meat was dry. Why ppl comment it is tender and tasty obviously doesn't have taste buds. Two, I ordered the shrimp as well, which I ended up giving to my kiddos, and their bread was dry as hell, as well as their sweet potato type chips. It was such a waste of money. We did take all our leftovers back home, and we ended up making it taste better.
I like curry sense, cumin, fennel, etc...but if that's all you put and no juicy sauce, it's not going to always be tasty when you put...

Yes, it seems the same spice mix is on all of them, but that doesn't matter. And it does not make them all taste the same because the flavours of the various meats shine through. It brings out the meats differently. Anyone who claims they can't tell the difference in the meats must have no idea what various meats taste like in general. The spices do NOT overwhelm the natural flavours, and all of our were cooked perfectly. Juicy and charred.
They do the best chicken hearts I have ever had yet. I thought an izakaya in TO was gonna be the best ever (aside from Asia obvs) but this place beat them hands down. So tender and soooo flavourful! We also got a few other options like beef, chicken skin, and lamb. The lamb was also divine which surprised me! Like I said, I wasn't even sure I wanted grilled meat so late but this changed my mind. We both wished we had been more hungry to get even more! Tofu was pretty good too. Definitely gonna grab some beer with it next time because that is what everyone else was doing.
Service was quick and perfunctory. Just the...

We were a party of two and were initially seated by a staff member. However, the chairs at that table were uncomfortable, so we politely asked to move. Another waiter kindly led us to a different table, and we settled in to place our order.
Then, out of nowhere, a different waiter came over and abruptly asked how many people were in our party. When we said two, he very rudely told us we couldn’t sit there and snatched our order sheet out of our hands in an extremely disrespectful manner. We were shocked.
We had moved tables based on the guidance of a staff member. If the table wasn’t meant for two, the appropriate thing would have been to calmly explain the situation and help us find another seat—not to scold us and grab things from our hands like we were doing something wrong.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. We were humiliated for simply following directions and trying to enjoy a meal. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others...
