Temaki Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Saguenay

Coming here is a dining experience! What an amazing moment we had. Everything is delicious and so fresh. You get to see all the preparations because the kitchen is open. Even talk with the chef and owner if you're lucky. The service was very good too. Except for the fact that at the moment of payment they double charge us two items, plus they charged 3$ for gas water (which we were never previously informed, usually water is for free) and in the menu there was one item listed for 7.75 and then we end up paying more than 9. Great sushi, best in the area. Very popular with locals, difficult to get a seat during dinner. Long lines or reservations are recommended, or get takeout. Open from 2pm til late, unfortunately not open for normal lunch hours. Casual, a nice place to go out with friends or a date. Pricey but worth it, food is delicious: not traditional sushi but “modern/fusion” style sushi. Menu only available in French, hostess only speaks French. Service wasn’t great: ignored by hostess for several minutes so I sat myself until she started yelling at me to get up; when I got up, she ignored me again and didn’t help me...

Ce n'est pas la première fois que je visite Temaki à Chicoutimi, et pourtant, je suis toujours époustouflé par la qualité de la nourriture, surtout pour un endroit comme Chicoutimi. Dans une culture culinaire fade où tout ce qui a du goût semble être un affront, Temaki parvient à sublimer des ingrédients très frais, sans pour autant offenser quiconque. Si ce restaurant était à New York ou à Montréal, il tiendrait encore la route. Gardez à l'esprit que vous pourriez rencontrer des difficultés avec l'anglais ici, mais c'est à prévoir dans les profondeurs du Québec. À noter, et je rédige cela en 2023 lors de la grande pénurie de Sriracha, leur charmante petite boutique en face disposait d'une rangée complète de grandes bouteilles. Cela pourrait donc valoir le détour depuis Montréal si vous avez 12 heures devant vous.

This is not the first time I'm going to Temaki in Chicoutimi, and still I'm blown away with the quality of the food, for Chicoutimi that is. In a bland food culture where anything with a taste seems to be an offence, Temaki manages to bring the best out of very fresh ingredients, while still not offending anyone. If this restaurant was in New York or Montreal it would still be able to hold its own. Keep in mind that you might have issues with English here, but that's to be expected this deep in Quebec. An interesting side note, and keep in mind I'm writing this in 2023 during the great Siracha shortage, is that their cute little boutique in front had a full row of the large bottles, so it may be worth a drive up from Montreal if you have 12...
