My wife, son and I just had our first visit to the Unique OZE Restaurant in Saint John. Living now in the rural St. George, NB area, after moving from Ontario three years ago, we no longer have any local opportunies to enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine. So, we were cautiously hopeful that this restaurant would satisfy our craving.
What a very pleasant surprise! My wife had the lamb shawarma wrap. My son had the chicken shish tawook dinner and I had a chicken shawarma wrap. We also shared an order of falafel. All three meals were packed with perfectly seasoned, tender meat, freshly grilled on the spot . There was definitely no skimping here. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My son and I agree that the falafel, made from scratch, was the best we've tasted, especially when dipped in the garlic sauce. We were all too full to try the home-made baklava which looked very tempting.
The owner was exceptionally friendly and obviously passionate about his love of good food which helped add significantly to our overall dining experience.
This was a great meal, at a reasonable price and we will certainly be looking for excuses to go to Saint John again sooner rather than later so that we can stop in again and try some of the other items at Unique OZE Restaurant...including what is described as the world's biggest burger.
For any one planning to visit this establishment for the first time, be aware that the seating is very limited with room for only about seven seated diners. For this reason, and, because you may not be as lucky as we were to get seated there, we think Unique OZE Restaurant will be best suited to those looking for delicious take-out meals as they partner with all the online...
Read moreOk... It's official - I have a new favorite. So, in the last few days I've tried the Chicken Schwarma with Rice Plate, Seesh Tawook with rice, chicken schwarma wrap and now I can say that I've tried the burger that's bigger than my head.
You walk into OZE Saint John, and are greeted by the most amazing smells, and this wonderful gentleman and his huge smile. He gives great food recommendations, and clearly loves what he does.
The food is fresh, hot, super flavorful with all the perfect seasoning and beautiful.
But let's talk about THIS BURGER. It's an 8inch burger that actually has huge flavor even just on its own.... With grilled veggies, perfectly melted cheese, a couple sauces, and a humongous bun that fluffy and buttery deliciousness, expertly grilled to give the soft exterior and that slight crunch on the inside.
I had to take a picture to properly showcase the sheer size of this thing.
While I waited for the burger to be done, I got chatting with the super sweet woman who works there, as well. She's LOVELY and we talked excitedly about the food... As I asked about the donair spit, she offered to turn it on and heat some up just so I could try it.... I have never in my life tasted donair meat this well seasoned with just the right amount of heat... I would put these donairs up against ANY others.
Anyway, to end this rave review, I'll tell you that if you go get the burger this weekend (and you really should), you get a free chicken schwarma (with fries and a pop).
I should mention - even in a REGULAR day - this absolute beast of a burger is only $20 🤯 and they stay open LATE NIGHT on the weekends.

Read moreThe best shawarma in Canada. There I said it. The chicken shawarma was fresh, hot and so delicious. I didn’t take a picture because it was GONE as soon as I got it.
The owner (I think his name is Ahmed going by reviews) is a wonderful cook and connects so well with his customers. We were serviced by his son who was courteous and polite. Overall a great experience.
Great music in there too. Felt like I was back in Oman eating an authentic shawarma. I will be back!
