Review #1 of Many. Why I say so is that after our visit yesterday, I am sure there would be many more visits and reviews. Now being an Indian, whenever we go to an Indian Restaurant the pressure is on them to make us like them over the many decades of extremely delicious food that we are used to. Royal King does an Amazing job of delivering Authentic Indian taste. We were a big group and luckily had the good fortune of bring able to taste a variety of dishes. The experience began with a bite of mouth watering Pao Bhaji. Then Came the delicious Chili Chicken with the perfectly tender chicken. Next was the two types of Chicken Tikka. Both very tasty yet very different in the flavor profile. After that we Dug into some Punjabi Favorites. Chole Bhature and Amritsari Kulcha. Any Indian reading this review would know the importance of these two iconic dishes in the Indian Cuisine and Culture. To Summarize these two Iconic Dishes I would just say, Simply the Best that I have had in Canada and maybe one of the very best ever. I am saying this after being in Canada for more than 4 years now and having stayed in 3 provinces. The Experience was completed with a taste of the heart warming and Nostalgic Jalebi.
A word of Advice to Chef Sandy and his Team. DONT change anything. The food is Amazing but the experience wouldn't be awesome without the impeccable service to go along with it. The team serves with a smile and Chef Sandy was out talking to us about our liking for spice levels etc to ensure that the food was to our liking.
There is still so much more at this place that we need to go back for and am sure every visit would be as good as today...
Read moreI ordered Tandoori Chicken and it took more than 1 hour for them to prepare. The waitress had told me that it’ll take just 30 minutes for which I agreed upon, but taking an hour to come up with my order is just not done. The restaurant wasn’t that busy either.
In spite of taking so much time, the chicken was completely tasteless and half cooked, and not at all worth the time and money.
I have no idea whats up with the service. Atleast they should have informed us that they will be taking this long instead of promising the 30min service, so that we could have planned accordingly.
Honestly I feel the only reason this place has been running since so long is because they don’t really have any other competition in the fine Indian dining section in SJ, otherwise this place would have been long gone by now.
To all those who are planning to try this place out, I’d suggest go to Moncton or Fredericton to have a decent indian food. Anyway, these folks take more than an hour to prepare a completely tasteless chicken so in roughly that much time it’s better to go to some other city and get your cravings satisfied, because clearly Royal King Saint John is not the answer.
Also, they somehow have managed to maintain this thing where we are not supposed to give a negative feedback on any of the WhatsApp group, otherwise I would have posted this review there for the owner to know.
This is the only place where I can post this, so I expect the leadership team to look upon this and fix so many broken things in their restaurant as soon...
Read moreI had a lunch buffet with my friends here yesterday, and as a foreigner having Indian food for the first time in Canada, I had high expectations. However, the taste of the food disappointed me, except for the naan.
Later, a male employee came over to us and said that their post machine was malfunctioning and only accepted transfers or cash. My friend Kawsar spent over 5 minutes at the front desk operating the e-transfer, and then I went over and transferred my portion of the payment to her so she could transfer it to the restaurant all at once. The first screenshot shows the time I transferred the money to her, which means we paid immediately after we ate.
10 minutes later my friend returned and we left, with no employees mentioning that the payment had not gone through. Even though I don't understand why my friend's transfer did not go through, she apologized and retransferred the money later to them, so why did the male employee have to respond in such a rude manner? Is this the right attitude to solve problems?
Additionally, he corrected that the buffet was $21.99 plus tax, but the fact is that we paid $25.26 after tax, so what's the argument about?
Finally, I hope the male employee understands that he is the one who opens the door to his business. If he cannot calmly handle and accept negative customer comments, how long can such a business last? 🙃
Would never...
