I was looking for something good to eat on the south shore. I ended up in St lambert and finally selected Bidon for dinner.
The place was somewhat busy but wasn’t packed. I found parking right in front of the restaurant. This was a good sign.
Dimly lit the restaurant had a rustic feel. Music was playing in the background. Little did I know that the ambiance was set for an epic meal which was about to begin.
We ordered: short ribs, crusted iceland cod and for the kids; chicken nuggets and burger and fries.
The short rib was so tender, and loaded with rich marbling and full of flavour. The chimichurri sauce and marinated shallots paired nicely with the beefy flavour of the short rib, adding a fresh and bright taste to the overall A+ dish. It was thoughtful of them to ensure the dish had a healthy starch and veggies (mashed sweet potatoes, and glazed carrots)
The aroma of the pine nut butter and burnt oranges infused well with the light flavour profile of the Iceland cod.
At first we didn’t expect this restaurant to cater to kids as the menu does not have a kids section. Fortunately we were wrong. They do have meal options for kids.
When most restaurants cook for kids, the food is bland and terrible. Not at Bidon.
The kids meals were actually very good! The burger was so moist and juicy. The chicken nuggets were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. The kids really enjoyed their meals.
The CHOCOLATE FONDANT with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream was rich, luxurious, fat-filled, highly caloric and possibly downright bad for me. But it was sooo good.

They need to understand that you can easily replace a waiter/bartender but you cannot replace a client. So far I know 8 people that will never go back. Even the dumbest dog knows not to bite the hand that feeds it.
I have to remove one star. I am not a complainer however I seriously think that they should review their customer relations. I used to be like family there. No more. Otherwise, I still love the place. Great restaurant. The prices of the food is honest for the quality. The steak is fantastic. Impeccable friendly service. They have a chalkboard "l'ardoise" to announce other than the regular dishes. These daily specials change maybe twice a week.
If you know your wines, you can find for all budgets from their exclusively private imports. The staff has exams 3 or 4 times a year to learn the proper matches specifically to the meals and the client's tastes. They charge the price of a glass to 1/5 the price of the bottle for the most popular already opened bottles. Mondays they offer some select bottles for $20. I love this because it shows you wines you might never taste otherwise. The atmosphere is very happy. Definite 5...
