So, we did not eat the sushi. But we were visiting Salt Spring and it was hot, so my mom said to my girls why don't you sit at these tables in front of the sushi place as I was looking at a store down the way. There was no sign up saying no sitting unless you order. They had menus, but that was it. ( my girls are only 11 and 7 years old.) my mom was looking at clothes right next door. And the my girls went to her and were upset saying someone kicked them out of the seats mad and very rude. So, my mom approached to man there and told him they were little girls and that was not nice yelling at them to get lost. So when I got back to them my 11 year old told me that the man asked if they were gonna order sushi and she said no. So, he yelled then get lost and pulled her out of the chair and pushed her away. He put his hands on my child. Which is unacceptable!!!! So, once my daughter told me this I was enraged. My momma bear came out and I threw the menus off the table and kicked the chairs over. He came out into my face and was angry and I stood my ground and told him it was unacceptable to lay a hand on my child. He told me to get lost and to not come back, and fingered me. So, next day went to the farmers market and he put signs up to say no sitting unless a patron. But there was a elder women there using the table to rest and not buying anything and he did not come out and kick her out.....so I am very disappointed and do not find that...
Read moreSushi was warm. Gyoza was good but did not come with dip. Chicken teriyaki tasted like it was made with store bought pre-cooked chicken and store bought sauce.
Advice to owner: Sushi rice can be kept cool on hot days by pointing a fan at the covered rice with ice behind it. Partly frozen fish could also be used in preparation.
Provide dumpling sauce with the gyoza.
Modify the teriyaki sauce. A little touch of lemon, lime or vinegar would help cut the sweetness and give it distinction.
Buy fresh boneless chicken thighs (skin on) and flatten for quick cook. Add teriyaki to the pan once cooled and ready to serve.
I love that your restaurant is on Salt Spring. I wish you all the best! I will return...
Read moreThe customer service and the food was amazing! We came in as a big group and it took so little time to get every item we ordered. The owners of the restaurant was so kind and welcoming, and the food was well priced! The food came out exactly as vibrant as the menu, and I couldn't resist taking pictures. The sizes and portions of the foods are so much bigger than in Vancouver, especially the dynamite roll. It was so full of ingredients, and you could really feel how much work it was put into making each roll.
Overall, it's one of the best restaurants in Salt Spring Island, and I was very satisfied with my experience. P.S, there's also a restaurant dog, and she was so...
