Having been quoted health code vialations for trying to be a customer before has pussed me off but not as much as this guy did tonight. If you like to be lied to and sworn at while waiting for your pizza , check this place out! I get that businesses have a right to ask you to leave for any reason, but.
My dad and I were visiting and yeah I have shoes on me sometimes just in case, but sometimes it just feels better to my soul to explore and yes even get a slice of pizza without being harrased.
I have never in the years that I been on this planet.. Sorry this is a lot but, I asked if he could show me the health code since I know it is my right to have any footwear I want. Swearing at me because I asked for him to show me code.
Our pizza was already in the oven and my dad came back out after ordering and so I figured I would go in and wait since it would be another fifteen minutes.. Haha omg. I am always so happy when restaurants end up closing after being discriminated against.
This is the first time I have made a review and I normally try to keep it to myself..
Good thing we didn't pay for the pizza yet, but it was in the oven and it is a bit chilly out so I figured we would wait inside.
So rediculous
If this guy is not the owner, he shouldn't be turning away business whether they are allowed to or not. Turning away business based on discrimination is never a good thing.
No sign anywhere and even if there was a sign. He lied about the health code. We all know that humans have rights. We know in our core when we have been wronged in that way. This time I spoke up.
Still pretty hungry, but we cut our tour of Saltspring short after spending money in a few places...
Read moreVEGANS AND THOSE WITH ALLERGIES UN-BEWARE. This place is awesome. It is a small hole in the wall tucked into the corner of one of the plazas downtown and I will agree with the other reviewers about not being put off by the establishment nor the owner/operator initially appearing rough around the edges (as 95% of Back of House are!), as he cares a lot about making good pizza for affordable prices, he does all the work himself, and he’s actually very sweet!
Darren actually does MAKE his own vegan cheese (none of that Daiya stuff!) which before baking has a liquid consistency and is poured on the pizza. I thought he mistakenly gave me real cheese when I first bought a pizza from Pizza Cavern, but I didn’t have an adverse reaction after I ate it and I’m very lactose intolerant, so I BEGGED him to divulge the ingredients, as it is so similar to dairy mozzarella. (The vegan cheese is mostly vegetable-based, with thickeners and seasonings that replicate the stretch and tang of fresh mozzarella.)
I don’t live on Salt Spring anymore but I was fully prepared to bankrupt myself on this pizza. Darren! I miss you and getting, ‘two large vegan pesto veggie pizzas, with banana peppers instead of bell peppers, and add...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying the pizza here but now I never will. My boyfriend is the kindest, sweetest, nicest guy. He used to eat here often and always tipped well. One day on his lunch break the owner chose to inexplicably ignore him. He served people who came in after him so my boyfriend waited patiently for his turn. He sat at the counter and waited. Trying to make eye contact but continued to be ignored. His lunch break was coming to a close so he left to find something else for lunch a bit annoyed. Who wouldn’t be? The guy treated him like he was invisible. So odd and strange. After not going back for a couple of months he returned hoping it was just an off day for the guy. The owner straight up told him no, he couldn’t have any pizza. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ What? Why? The owner said last time he was in he was rude and impatient. My boyfriend is more patient and kind than the average person so none of this makes sense. I won’t ever have this pizza because apparently the owner is a moody, judgemental jerk. If you choose to eat here just know that the owner might turn on you for no reason one day too. It’s an unfortunate situation for a normally lovely, small close...
