Baba’s Homestyle Perogies — Restaurant in Saskatoon

BABAS IS AWESOME!! we always buy many types of their frozen pierogies to take home. The potato and cheese, Potato cheese and bacon, and the frozen cabbage rolls are AWESOME. We used to get to Saskatoon more frequently however now we live a greater distance away so.....it makes our trips here all the more special. We will be in Saskatoon in july and will be stocking up on at least 24 bags of frozen pierogies and cabbage rolls. Over the years we have not actually had any of their fresh food or combos. So we have that on the list for next time. Further to other reviews we have many many times been through the drive through and always have cash not debit. The staff we have encountered including on our last visit in October 2024 have been fast, friendly, efficient and we have had absolutely zero issue with the cash counting or change recieved. Kudos to BABAS for excellent service and pierogies...

Some friends and I decided to try perogies, since it's been a while we had good perogies, and the first place that appeared on our search was Baba's. For a first time in a restaurant, I have to admit, we were really disappointed. The perogies were undercook, wet, and no option of stuffing was offered, only potato. My Polish friend was really hoping to find better perogies than the one we buy at the grocery store. Not the case. On the bright side, the saussage (smokie) was pretty good and the price was reasonable. I will have to try it again just to make sure it was not just bad luck. If so, I'll edit this post...

We have been here many times in the past usually through the drive through for lunch or dinner. The pirogies and sausage is always good. The last time here we ate in and wouldn’t recommend it. The only bad part of it was that they gave plastic utensils to eat with on paper places. Not very environmentally friendly and it was very hard to eat the sausage with. Every cut I took felt like the plastic fork and knife were going to break. In the future I would eat from here again but would do takeout as we usually do. We will not try eating for some time here after...
