crowded, hair in food, worst “sushi menu” i’ve ever seen. There was basically two fish nigiri only, the fish was paper thin, and literally zero option for sashimi (for a sushi buffet this is INSANE). The maki sushi rolls looked like the only option and looked like it was going to be too much but tasted too plain. Boyfriend got a small meat dish and skewers and it was plain plain plain, no flavour. The buffet help-your-self area was all deep fried food, pans slick with oil. Tofu, seaweed salad and green beans was ok. Only other thing i got was the sticky rice and it was simply disappointing and gross. Nothing looked good. I was overstimulated the whole time with people loitering around my table after finishing and just talking. Sushi is supposed to be healthy not covered in oil and DEEPFRIED. I don’t live in the city anymore and last time i came here years and years ago it was awesome. I see the other reviews say it’s newly opened again and under new management. Well, obviously it’s gone down hill, I feel bad for the workers. For two people it came to $51 dollars which is not bad for a buffet. But when you hated all the food it puts you in the worst mood spending that much money.

Seeking Owners Attention : We have always loved Go For Sushi on 8th St, but last night was by far the worst experience ever. A group of eight of us went for dinner and were seated near the kitchen at a large table. Throughout our meal, one of the servers ( Filipino) sat at the table right in front of us for nearly two hours, staring directly at us in a very unsettling way. It was incredibly uncomfortable. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a few other staff members joined her, and she kept whispering to them. Then, they all turned around, looked at us, and started laughing. It felt completely unprofessional and disrespectful. To make matters worse, when I checked Google reviews today, I found a review from a year ago with a picture of the same staff member behaving similarly. I’m attaching the screenshots for the owner’s reference. you can see the woman in the middle of the photo. It’s truly disappointing to experience this kind of service from a restaurant we once loved. I hope the owners take this seriously and address the issue.

I rarely post any bad reviews but holy this takes the cake. The nigiri we ordered was cut improperly. Im not sure if the greying is freezer burn, discolouring due to decomposition, or the skin/scales which you aren’t suppose to eat raw. When we told them that the sushi didn’t look very appetizing, the waitress didn’t seem to notice any issues with it. Said it looked fine. I’ve attached photos to this review for y'all to determine that. My brother got the soft serve ice cream and it tasted “grainy”. I tasted it, and it wasn’t mixed properly.. or perhaps I was eating some mold mixed in the ice cream. I immediately yakked and spit it out onto the napkin. I’ve never been so wronged in my life .

The only thing pleasant about my experience over all recently, has been the decor and not having to speak to the (mostly)inattentive staff very much.

That being said, unless you REALLY like sweet flavoured foods, I don't recommend. I also don't recommend coming here unless you don't care if you receive all of your order in time or at all.

I went in yesterday, and this experience was particularly bad. The other times I have gone it was okay, but never spectacular or stellar.

I ordered food three separate times and told the server I was missing the same food item every time. To which he chalked it up to "Oh, sometimes the tablet doesn't work and it doesn't send." Okay, so, if your customer specifically asks you about the same food item THREE times- it is not a technology issue. Do not try to write that off. The food took an obscenely long time to get to our table(or at least the food they actually got to us).

The food- ALL of it- tastes like it's been bathed in sugar and molasses. In some of the dishes this is okay, even welcome, but I do not think sushi rice is supposed to be so sweet that it leaves a goopy residue behind on everything it touches. The snapper tasted like a dirty potato. I am not exaggerating. I took one bite and immediately felt sick. The rest of the sushi was mediocre at best and sickeningly sweet. I also ordered mochi ice cream. By the time I got it, it was soup. Over all it was by far the worst sushi experience I have ever had. There are no excuses for this.

The buffet table has things that are unlabeled, the stir fried rice was under cooked and dry, the ginger beef(which I did not have) apparently had absolutely no ginger flavour to it what so ever, the mushroom dish was pure salt- shocking, considering their fascination for cavities- and the staff were not very friendly this time.

The up points? Most of their sashimi is good. Mostly because it's not bathed in sugar. The drinks usually come pretty quickly. The tempura is okay, and it's pretty cheap(That doesn't mean the food is worth the price you pay, the experience is worth maybe 5$ a person at most).

That being said, if you want cheap(all you can eat) sushi, go to New Island. Their food is much better, the staff are much more attentive, there's no "technology" to place the blame on, and it doesn't taste like Willy Wonka is running the kitchen. I feel ripped off that money was spent for an experience that bad.

I hope your service, food, and quality over all improve. I won't be going back for a long while but perhaps in the future I will choose to give it...

My sons took me here for a late Mother's Day dinner on Sunday. The website said they closed at 10, which is why we chose to dîne here. We arrived at 830, and it took about 5 mins to be seated, even though there were plenty of tables to choose from. No big deal. After we were seated, we were brought the iPad and water within a few mins. As we were ordering, a man came over and said, "The kitchen closes in 15 mins." This was at about 845ish, so we thought we misheard, and he said "50 mins." We ordered sake and juice, and the food came out quickly, as all you can eat does. It was tasty, quality food. The service by two of the wait staff was decent. By 915, the same man who mentioned the kitchen was closing soon came over with the debit machine. He said, "Can you pay now? I'll bring your bill." I said "we're still eating." He said "I'll bring your bill, and you can pay soon." The restaurant was clearing out, and we were done, and finishing our sake, being the last table left. A bus boy came around and I said "we'll be leaving in a few mins" and he said "don't worry. We don't close until 10. No rush." This was about 935. We were literally getting out stuff gathered by 940, and the same man who tried to rush us TWICE came over and said, "You can pay now. We've been closed for a long time!" I said,"No. Your website said 10, and that bus boy said 10 as well." He said,"Our website is wrong. We don't have any control over that. Who told you 10?" I said,"your staff did. Your website and your staff say 10, and you've been rude all night. " My son paid, and was as irritated as I was. The man gave a fake "yeah, sorry for that," and we left. I've seen many other people mention the rude service. Unfortunately, he ruined it for the tip we were going to give. My kids and I are normally very good tippers, but we didn't want him getting even 5 cents if the tips are shared, and in most cases, they are. We felt rushed, uncomfortable, and generally...

Sushi lovers we all know yummy sushi is difficult to get living in Saskatoon. Especially if your used to sushi everyday on the coast. soooo , 3 star only for the sushi at the restaurant/ buffet/order off the tablets. They Cop out! and don’t give true sushi eaters what they deserve. So do not go there, to sit and eat sushi buffet and pick sushi off the tablet, as you’ll be disappointed, if you know your Sushi! That means, you go to this restaurant and not just only order the mango or pineapple newbie California sushi rolls, as the buffet tablet consists of more sushi rolls with fruit and rice then the actual main happiness/ the true meaning to sushi, the fish! if your a fish sushi eater..This is only why, I dislike going to sit and dine buffet tablet. I like to be blown away, not pretend to try and eat sushi, with fruit or imitation crab, I don’t want basic boring rolls, as that doesn’t taste good to me. But I must say, if you are a new sushi eater and like fruit or more veggies in your rolls, then Sure try it out....The Quality is not as good off the buffet tablets though, and it won’t blow your mind....... HOWEVER ........I MUST GIVE GO FOR SUSHI 5+!!! stars for the wicked TAKEOUT SUSHI MENU which is different and tastes way better then the dine in tablet menu! That’s where you hit the jackpot, with your quality of fresh fish! If you want them to take pride in your sushi rolls, and give you a good quality order of takeout, ORDER THE PRINCESS ROLL And the RED DRAGON ROLL OFF THE takeout menu!! And salmon sushi’s!!! or just straight sashimi! If your into lots of fresh real fish!!! The takeout menu is where it’s at!!! and will blow your socks off. This is when, good sushi in Saskatoon gets discovered! I’ll order takeout out from you guys, October, new island and samari only. Keep up the good takeout...
