My husband picked up on his way home from work as he was in the area. I had searched for a place that he wouldn't have to go too much out of the way and decided on The Wok. New for us and was not disappointed. Probably some of the best Chinese take away we have had in years. Might be our new go to spot. We got the dinner for 4 and a chicken Chow Mein (it was alot of food, could have fed 6-8 depending on appetites). We live out of town and by the time we got into the food it was probably 45 min after pick up. Everything was very fresh tasting with incredible flavor. The wonton soup was 10/10 with great add-ins and a nice flavorful broth. I normally am not a fan of s/s pork but I would have ate the whole thing myself. Nice crispy pork that wasn't tough. All the meat in the order was tender and not full of gristle/fat like you often find. My husband said probably his favorite spring rolls he has ever had, they were similar to a Vietnamese roll and he eats those often (noodle bowl fiend) not too salty, crispy and good meat. Rice and noodles had great texture and good flavor. My only dislike was the chicken balls but it was more personal preference and due to us eating them so late after pickup. I feel they are just too big and the coating was a little tough. Lots of chicken in them though! Will definitely order from here again and I recommend to try it. Price was pretty on mark, considering we got about 6 meals out of it worked out to 15/meal or person. Great...
Read moreAbsolutely one of the most disappointing places to order from in Saskatoon for Asian food. ---------- If you want quality and flavour this is one place to AVOID..... IF flavorless and bland are words you like to describe your food, you may just like this place. The spring rolls are flavorless, the traditional sauce that comes with the spring rolls is just watered down fish sauce... No tang, no spice, no flavour. The Hot and Sour Soup lacked everything in its name... No sour.. no hot.... The soup just had texture with no flavour. The sweet and sour lean pork is just deep fried pieces of dry pork with almost NO sauce on them. It was as if they just spooned a few dribbles of sauce over the meat. One would expect the meat to actually be tossed in sauce.... Not rationed out with a small spoon hardly hitting all the pieces. The steamed pork roll (summer roll) was dry and had a sliver of a pork slice with about 95% of the roll being rice noodles (flavourless seems to be a theme here). One thing that did not lack flavour but was sadly overpowered by one flavour was the War wonton soup.... Pretty much a Chinese 5 spice overkill. The lemon chicken was good at least. Overall VERY disappointing... Very flavourless and lacking in quality. Those who claim "Best Asian Food Saskatoon". Must eat plain rice and water...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were looking for a quick Chinese fix one evening. We stopped by The Wok because it is close to where we live. The server was very friendly and outgoing. He made us feel welcome and even accommodated us when we decided last-minute to dine in instead of take the meal home. We ordered the dinner for two, which came with rice, chow mein noodles, sweet and sour ribs, and deep-fried shrimp. The food was made very quickly and efficiently, and satisfied our craving. However, we could have used a little bit more "meat" instead of "potatoes"; the meat portions were very small compared to the two full plates of starchy rice and noodles. I understand that this is a tactic in order to make a profit, but we would have preferred to swap a plate of rice for vegetables, which the dinner came with none. With that in mind, the food seemed fresh and was tasty nonetheless. I would consider visiting again, but I'd be ordering a much more different...
