Great Bread; Crappy Service

The bread is amazing! Some of the best bread that I've ever had. However, we stopped by for Lunch recently and had a terrible experience.

They were quite busy and there was no extra spots to sit (it would be nice if they were in a bigger space). When we ordered, the lady at the counter had us repeat our order as though she hadn't heard it the first time (not a big deal, just strange). She didn't ask us what kind of bread we wanted for our sandwich, but that was ok. We found a table and I waited there while my partner waited by the counter to pick up our order. Another waitress brought our food to me. However, she had brought the wrong soup. I told her that it was wrong, so she went back behind the counter, looked at our order, talked to the waitress who took our order, who then pointed at my partner. The second waitress walked back to me and set the tray beside me (thinking that it was for my partner).

Even this would have been acceptable, had I not wanted to try the soup we ordered so much and had the soup we received not have been terrible. It was the worst soup I can ever recall tasting. It was jalapeño chickpea and corn soup-- the jalapeños only added heat without flavour and the chef went overboard with the cilantro. I was very frustrated with the lack of care and attentiveness, the inability of two waitresses to understand one order, and our inability to get the correct order. I will return to purchase bread and croissants, but I will think twice about going for lunch...

I was really excited to try the rueben and went in yesterday with my partner after the kitchen had closed. Came back today to be greeted by the most judgmental up and down once over before ordering. My partner noticed right away and didn’t tip in the transaction. I felt bad and added some coins to the jar even though I knew right away that they wouldn’t be making the sandwich with love. The sandwich was soggy, cold, not cut all the way through and there was a two inch meat end thrown in for what I’m assuming would be a surprise for us to find at home. Much to the employee’s dismay we tried to eat it on the patio and instantly went back in for a refund. I’m honestly not sure what I didn’t to offend the person working but it was just over...

I hate leaving a negative review, but their standards aren’t the same. The sandwiches have always been way too expensive, but they at least filled a void so I kept coming back. For the last few times the filling in the sandwich has been decreasing and decreasing, and then with my most recent having a crust as half of the sandwich bread with almost no roast beef it’s getting harder to justify going back. It’s a shame as I would always like to have a fresh sandwich as an option for lunch
