Katmu Restaurant: A Taste of the Philippines in the Heart of Saskatoon
From the moment we stepped into Katmu Restaurant, we were greeted with the warm and inviting atmosphere that promised an authentic Filipino dining experience. The menu, a vibrant tapestry of flavors, offered a variety of traditional dishes that cater to both the adventurous foodie and those seeking the comfort of home-cooked meals.
The Kare Kare was a standout, with its rich and nutty sauce perfectly complementing the tender oxtail and vegetables. It was a dish that brought back memories of festive family gatherings. The Lechon Bagnet was another highlight, with its crispy skin and succulent meat, it was a true testament to the art of Filipino cooking.
The Fried Chicken was, simply put, a revelation. Each bite was a perfect harmony of crispy exterior and juicy interior, seasoned to perfection. The Salisbury Steak and Peppermint Steak were both flavorful and cooked to our liking, providing a comforting balance to the meal.
Dessert was the crowning glory of our feast. The Leche Flan was velvety smooth, with just the right amount of sweetness, while the Sipa was a delightful surprise that left us wanting more.
In conclusion, Katmu Restaurant is a gem in Saskatoon for anyone looking to indulge in the best Filipino cuisine. The dishes we savored were not only delicious but also evoked a sense of nostalgia and joy with every bite. It's a place we'll certainly return to, eager to explore more of their...
Read moreCame for the prix-fixe menu with a group. I got the chicken skin chicharron, pork sisig, and the sipa cheesy cassava bites. The chicharron was tasty, well cooked, and not oily. The pork sisig was balanced and always a good choice. Probably the best dish they offer. It's not too spicy and my little one loved it. The cheesy cassava bites were wrapped in filo dough and fried. They were tied with hay or grass, which may or may not have been edible. Also tried the lumpia; it was nicely fried and prepared. Others in the group were not so lucky. The pansit was very wet and soupy and not very flavourful at all. A huge let-down. Service was good, though when I clumsily spilled water, they gave three thin napkins to sop it up. Not even a cloth or anything. It was odd that a prix-fixe three course meal was served all at once, instead of in courses, but not a deal breaker. A decent meal overall. I feel like there are some solid bangers to order and some items to steer around. I wouldn't go out of my way to come again, especially since there are more consistent places, but wouldn't be opposed to...
Read morePros first: the service was pretty good the waiter was always checking on us to see if we’re doing okay and wore mask the whole time we were there she’s friendly as well thank you for that Cons: so we order two dishes (pork bagnet and pina putok na bangus) and couple of coffee and soup all came close to $60 portion wise it’s not good at all and the taste was out of the ordinary the fish dish was raw on some part which made my stomach upset after that I had to spend 15 mins on the toilet and the pork bagnet was pretty greasy. All and all we probably won’t be back again for this experience I was expecting a better experience but I guess it was a learning experience anyway that’s just my review about it you guys can try for yourself Thanks. Hopely they can do better for the next customer I love to see this family restaurants do well for themselves wish u...
