I had an extremely bad experience at Thien II tonight and would discourage anyone from going there. It wasn’t the food; it was that from this experience it was very obvious that they really don’t give a rat's hiney about customers or their staff. I went in with a friend and wanted to order some type of stir fry dish with a meat, vegetables and rice. The waitress suggested the shrimp with lemon grass. I asked if it had vegetables in it and she said yes. When the dish came it was stir fried shrimp with onions in a lemongrass sauce over rice with some shredded iceberg lettuce and a bit of shredded carrot on the side, which is weird in itself. I told the waitress I had wanted a dish with vegetables, so I asked her to take it back and let me order something different, since that is what I had explained earlier that I wanted. I ordered a different dish, she went away then came back with the shrimp and lemongrass dish and said I can't get a different dish because this is what I had ordered If I wanted another dish or if I wanted extra vegetables for the shrimp lemongrass dish, either the waitress or I would have to pay for them. I did not eat the meal nor did I order anything else. I felt very sorry for the waitress, this is beyond ridiculous, there was a mistake in communication and it would have cost them all of $3 to replace my meal but they would not. This shows how little the customer is valued. And staff make mistakes, it happens, and if their way to deal with it is to make someone who probably only makes minimum wage (while they make a lot more) pay for every little error, that is beyond petty and money grubbing.
I will not be going here again, ever. There are plenty of restaurants in town who value the customer much more than this place.
I compare this to Hudson’s downtown, where the last time I had a meal there, I said it was a bit salty (and this was just a comment, not a complaint) but I got my meal at no charge. They are excellent and value their customers, if you are not happy with your meal, they are more than happy to do what they can to rectify the situation, either replace it, or give you the meal...
Read moreThien's restaurant has proven to be the worst dining experience I have ever had in Saskatoon. We ordered a $70 take out meal last night. We waited two hours for our meal to arrive. The ginger beef was so overcooked it was black. The rest of the meal was ice cold, including the wonton soup, shanghai noodles and vermicelli pork. We called the restaurant to voice our displeasure. We were told that we hadn't ordered from them. PARDON...the wife/manager (Ms.Vinh) tells me that I must have ordered my food from their downtown location. Not so I tell her. I live three blocks away from their 8th Street location and only order from there. Then she tells me that she has no copy of my bill and doesn't think I have ordered from there at all. I tell her that I gave her driver a card with my name and number along with instructions to have their manager call me. Soooo obviously I had ordered from there directly. I then tell her I have eaten there on several occasions and can't believe I am having to prove this nonsense. I explain that FURTHER to the two hour wait, cold/burnt food/proving my order was from there/their lack of a bill at their end, I have now wasted an hour on the phone discussing their poor service. She tells me she can make me another wonton soup. I explain that I no longer want anything from there. BY THIS TIME I'm steamed. I explain I want my money refunded. SHE SAID," why "you people" want everything for free? I can no give you money back." She tells me it was a busy time for them and she says she is going to bill the driver for the meal because HE brought it late. You've got to be kidding me...so I ask her for her husband's phone number...as he is owner. I called and he offered to make me a new ginger beef...lol. I told him I want a refund. He says he can't do this. I have decided the $70 is no longer an issue...the best I can do is ensure that everyone knows what kind of service/food they provide so the next person doesn't have to put up this this kind of fiasco. Thien's has abysmal service! Terribly...
Read moreThis place has HORRIBLE customer service. I usually just order food to pick up (which has always been good) but decided to dine in yesterday with my friend and let me tell you it was a mistake. First off, right after we were seated one of the staff members slammed down water and menus on our table and walked away, without evening saying a word. A minute later he comes back, and asks if we're ready to order, to which we said no (because we just got the menu and barely had time to look at it). Another waiter ended up taking our order (who was super nice) and I decided to order the pork and shrimp noodle bowl, which I must say came out very quick. However, once I received my meal I noticed that there was only 2 tiny shrimp. I understand it only costs $7.95, but I found that to be a bit ridiculous.. I mean when you order a dish with shrimp you expect there to be an acceptable amount of shrimp. Honestly, I would pay a few extra bucks just to get what I ask for.. So anyways I tried waving down a waiter for probably 10 minutes as all of them kept rushing around and avoiding eye contact, and it wasn't even busy. I FINALLY got one of the waiters attention (the one who brought our water and menus) and asked him "is there only supposed to be 2 shrimp?" to which he said "yes 2 shrimp" and took off, with COMPLETE disregard to my question and concerns. Oh and guess what? the shrimp were dry as the sahara desert, and my food was cold when I finally ate it because I had to wait so long to talk to someone working there. Long story short, I won't be dining here again and you shouldn't either. Absolute garbage establishment, and I used to...
