My mom and I were in Saskatoon on a little trip and I wanted Mexican style food for lunch. This place did not disappoint. It was tough to find because we came from north on Cumberland and it was on the opposite side of Scotia Bank so we almost missed it, but well worth it once we did!
We were slow in getting a table, but that's because I think there was only one server. However, for a mid afternoon Monday that's not uncommon, as the place was almost empty. Once we were seated and with menus, the server was great! She was very cheery and personable, yet straightforward. Hearing they had half-price tacos that day was a pleasant surprise!
We ordered the table guacamole which was ABSOLUTELY delicious, despite not being exactly like the making of the table guac in Carlos and Charlie's in the USA as we thought 😄. It was really neat hearing about how the gorgeous stone guac bowls were carved and sold by a family in Mexico! After that, we each had shrimp tacos and I am already wishing I could have more. I have to say my only "issue" with it is more of an nitpick, and that's the music. It was a bit loud for the lack of people in the place, and pop music sorta takes away from the authentic Mexican ambiance. Santana's "Maria Maria" played once, though...so that was something 😉
It took a while to get our check, and honestly we could have done a dine n dash if we were those kind of people, because for several minutes all the staff just...disappeared, and we felt like we were the only ones in the place. Luckily we aren't those kind of people, and I made sure to tip decently once we did get the check.
I'm DEFINITELY coming back, and next time I'm bringing...
Read moreSpotted this place by accident while driving with a friend and decided to stop by. No regrets, had a wonderful experience!
Above all it is worth noting that staff was very kind and welcoming. Hoping it will be stay true in the future. Ladies in the front were very friendly. Vanessa was serving us and we truly felt her genuine happiness and joy. It was easy to spot how light she is on her feet because her kindness and goodness is coming from within and not fake like sometimes happens in this industry. My friend remarked that she was very attentive and listened well, giving great suggestions too. Always great being served by people who truly care!
We ordered three different kind of tacos. They were pretty good, hard to say if they are amazing. I think they still to find perfect balance. One good thing about them, they definitely had a lot of meat and were filling. Wish chips were free like in most traditional Mexican restaurants. I realize it’s a not traditional Mexican place, but just a thought.
I like the fact that food menu is not busy and not that hard to make a choice. Tacos, burritos, and a few other must-have Mexican foods. At least, we don’t have to flip pages forever.
Beer selection is very good, all beers on tap are carefully chosen and i support the choice. Variety of liquor is quite wide. Could take a while to try them all, maybe that’s the idea so always a reason to come back.
Glad we stopped by and wish that people who work here will remain happy in providing welcoming experience to the customers! All the...

I don’t often leave reviews, but tonight was upsetting. Short story - I am 7 months pregnant and was served alcohol when I asked for a virgin drink. Then, I didn’t even receive the drink that I originally ordered after 25 minutes!!
Long story - when we first arrived I had asked for a virgin margarita, which I received. I had asked for another virgin margarita when my friend and I ordered our food. I asked for a blended virgin margarita this time, so the waitress recommended the strawberry. When the drinks arrived to the table I took a drink and immediately tasted the tequila. We didn’t see our waitress for 10 minutes, until our food arrived and at this point I informed her that my drink had tequila and I could not drink it… I am very visibly 7 months pregnant (although I know now a days one is never to assume). The waitress became visibly flustered, my friend said she would drink the margarita with tequila and the waitress said she’d bring me the drink I originally ordered… this was at 6:20. By 6:45 when we saw our waitress again my drink had not arrived. We asked for our bills, I told her I no longer wanted my drink as we were done eating and had to leave. When she dropped our bills off she informed me that “for some reason the drink was never even made.” Not cool, won’t be going back as I’m truly nervous to get served booze...
