Just Like Mom's — Restaurant in Saugeen Shores

Nice breakfast with real homefries and green onion. Eggs were poached quite nicely. The crispy bacon hubby had that we shared was delicious, and we asked for crispy, and it turned out great.

The locally sourced sausage was not to either hubby's taste or mine (I ordered it, and we shared it). It was a but spicy and tasted like they used spice in the making of the sausage to give it flavour (relied on heavy seasoning for flavour).

The coffee was flavourful and hot.

We will go back again but will opt for bacon as opposed to sausage for our breakfasts.

They also sell a nice variety of home baked goods, and my cousin's teenagers loved the homemade cookies we brought them.

It is a small and informal but very clean establishment with plenty of outside parking.

The staff are super friendly, as are the other patrons.

You can enjoy your meal in sutude or strike up a conversation with other diners - the choice is yours.

We highly recommend "Just Like Mom's" for breakfast.

They are way too understaffed, they took 2 hours to serve us food. The staff were so kind but the owner needs to hire desperately. There is no reason for there to be only one waitress on a holiday. The food was decent but a two hour wait was not worth it. I would not recommend if you don’t have a LOT of time to waste. We ate our food faster than it took to be seated. Wish they warned us about the wait. Very well priced.

I know the owner responds. All I have to say. Is please please fix these problems, y’all have so much potential.

In addition: I searched the web to see if I could find any job listings, there was non. ANYWHERE. Staying understaffed when u make no effort to hire is BAD costumer service. Actively choosing to make customers waste their day in a dirty dingy diner when they could be at the beach is a bad business practice. ESPECIALLY when every other business in the area is able to maintain proper staff during the busy season; when how many teenager are able to work. It makes you wonder why people don’t wanna work there. You guys don’t care about your customers, and definitely don’t care about your business. Word of advice...

Beware that they bump orders. We were seated right away and had our order taken quickly. 45 minutes later and still no food. In the meantime, a couple at another table left 20 minutes after we were there. The table was cleaned and a gentleman was seated. He ordered and had his sandwich brought to him quickly. A couple also came after us and received their order before ours. When I asked about our meal I was told by 2 employees that their orders were simple meals and that our meals were more complicated. We had ordered a Reuben sandwich and 2 omelettes. They said the omelettes take a long time to make because everything has to be cooked evenly. Seriously? I have ordered omelettes many time with no time issue. Of note, only 3 orders for other tables were brought out before ours while we waited. All but one couple had already left by the time our food arrived. There is clearly a problem in the kitchen if omelettes pose a challenge. After all that, my omelette was dry and overcooked, my bacon was overcooked and hard to bite and the campfire potatoes had blackened edges with the onions completely...
