I was here 3x in one week in August 2020. I heard of this new item selling out fast called the "Bruce Potato." All I could imagine was a potato appetizer which I didn't fancy. When my sister opened the lid of an Offshore Bakery box a few days later I could see a treat inside and definitely not made of potato, instead, I saw what I can best describe as a large cream puff!! Sugary dough on the outside with creamy custard on the inside and boy oh boy it was so delicious! They are about three and a half inches high & just enough to satisfy any sweet tooth. Visitors: listen up, I will pass on a little secret, only good till the end of this summer. Place your order online for Bruce Potato because chances are they will not be available when you get to this bakery & forego waiting in a twenty something person line-up. You get to pick up your prepaid order at a special doorway reserved just for online orders. What you need to do when placing your online order is include a postal code for Southampton bc if you use your postal code outside this lovely town your order will not be accepted. Remember that. Bruce Potatoes are expensive, best eaten cold and cost $16.50 for 6. Other wonderful items are scones, sausage rolls that are long & absolutely delicious...
Read moreWe visited the bakery for the first time and purchased 3 items - a date square, a bag of tea biscuits and a raison butter tart. I would rate them in the following order out of 10 ---- 3 /10for the date , 5 /10 for the biscuits and 6 /10 for the butter tart. The date square had no flavor and there was no base crust -- you cannot pick this item up -- you have to eat it with a fork. The filling didn't even taste like dates. The biscuits were very bland and perhaps would have been better if covered in butter and jam but not to eat on its own. The raison butter tart was missing half of the crust and had truly 1 raison. For the pricing of the items it certainly should have been far better. I appreciate that the bakery has very good scores but honestly they are not merited - at least on the items we tried. We did want to get cookies but they had to be bought in multiple bags.... glad I didn't try those. Perhaps our experience was on items that just weren't good and all other items are great or it could be that there is nothing better in the area. I would not revisit -- consider...
Read moreI grew up in Southampton and know the town to be a friendly place, particularly in the summer as tourism is big in the town.
I was SHOCKED by the treatment I receive from the old man in the bakery. As we entered the store and were looking at the the products near the door, he rudely told us to move in as he had to get in the store. No please. No thank you. After making his way behind the counter we checked out the goods I the case. I asked him, as he was standing there, what the baked item was on top of the case. His answer... ask the girls. I looked at him. He eventually told me what it was and how it was made and I said thank you. He asked where I was from. I said here. He said I should know what it was. I said I don't go in the bakery. He scoffed at me and turned away. Upon reaching the till, the older woman who rang me in did so and I commented 'boy, he is a crotchety man'.
Customers deserve more respect than what I was shown in that shop and I will not be back....
