Canada's got it's own burger chain: Harvey's. Being the burger aficionado that I am, it was my mission to adventure forth and give it a try. Braving the treacherous Canadian snow - well, only about an inch or two that particular day - I eventually found myself to be much overdressed for the usual convenience food stop. Most of the patrons looked like they were either taking a break from driving the ole logging big rig, or were Winston Smith's next door neighbor. 'Harvey's' is a chain (maybe a franchise) that's somewhat smaller than 'Five Guys', and considerably bigger than the burger joints that've decided to expand to two or three restaurants. It definitely shows in the decor: not as much pre-formed plastic as at 'McDonald's', though still yearning for that big chain pre-fab feel. So. Who cares about the interior design, right? What do those burgers taste like? Well, if the used kitchen sponges soaked in grease that McDonald's calls burgers are a zero, and a fresh, ground off the bone, low batch baked bun burger is a ten, I'd give Harvey's a four. Like all of the big shots, they've definitely got the pink slime thang underway, so, I guess it's just a matter of how you cook it, which on this day was about a five. The four? That's because I anticipate it getting worse. As for side stuff: it's different. Yep. Different. Bet all this sounds like I knew what was going to happen before even going, so why bother to go in the first place? I told you, this is my mission, ok, one of my missions, and I will, ok, I hope, I'll...
Read moreI have been a regular customer at this Harvey’s location for over 2.5 years, and the service has always been excellent—until today. There was a huge line-up, and the employee with specs (seemed new) was extremely rude and completely unaware of his work. Despite the rush, he was incredibly slow and seemed unable to handle the situation.
When it was finally my turn, I ordered a grilled chicken burger, poutine, and two containers of jalapeños on the side. To my shock, he handed me three tiny pieces of jalapeños, saying it was their limit. I’ve never heard of this before and have never had such an issue at this branch.
This one employee’s behavior ruined not only my dinner but also my entire day. Highly unprofessional and unacceptable! I hope this feedback is taken seriously to maintain the usual high standards I’ve come to expect from...
Read moreWe had a coupon for a free fringes and it was on our phone (UPC bar code) . The cashier didn't know what to do with it. They entered the number into there register and they said it didn't work. So they tried scanning the bar code and they informed us that this code was already used. Let me assure you it was not. We tried to explain that we had just got it before driving to the restaurant and it was impossible for it to have been used. The owner said " it's been used, nothing we can do about it." Long story short, my wife and I felt that we were being called liers and we drove away without the frings but we did have our order of over $25. It's only an order of frings. The only reason we ordered it was because we had the coupon and it was just a...
