As someone who knows plenty about the shawarma/Donair business(I have eaten shawarma since I was a child) and as someone who has tried dozens of places in Toronto, Montreal, Turkey, Germany. I can confidently say this is the worst shawarma spot I have ever been to in my entire life. I made the mistake of coming here twice because I really wanted to give them a chance and I thought that maybe this was just a one-off occurrence. This place is a disgrace to shawarma and donair all across the globe. The workers are inexperienced. The meat is undercooked and cold. I wish I could think of a single good thing to say about this spot but unfortunately I would be lying and it would be a far reach. I hope the owner reads this and takes action to address and invest themselves into this business or else it will inevitably become a financial burden before they are either forced to shut down or sell. Please I beg you for the sake of shawarma and Donair wake up and smell the roses. I am afraid to feed this food to my dog. I am so sorry for this bad review but I feel obligated to not only tell the truth but to ensure I communicate properly so that the owner has a chance to fix things. Also the price you pay for what you get is ridiculous. 0.5/10
Response to the owner Hello, This was indeed a genuine experience. I paid in cash on both visits, so there wouldn’t be a record under my name. My review reflects exactly what I experienced on those occasions, and I stand by it.
I understand you may not agree with my opinion, but it was written honestly and based on specific issues I encountered — including meat served cold and undercooked on both visits. While I respect the effort that goes into running a small business, dismissing my experience as “exaggerated” rather than considering the possibility of an off day is disappointing.
I hope this feedback can still be taken in the constructive spirit it was intended — to help improve for future...
Read moreI've ordered from Prarie Donair a few times previously and had good experiences, though tonight I was extremely disappointed with both my order and the customer service provided at this location. I ordered the chicken and lamb shawarma, and requested a small amount of extra garlic sauce on my wrap. The employee preparing the order seemed to have misunderstood my request, and absolutely smothered the wrap in sauce, so much so that it was leaking extensively out of the foil wrap, and she had to re-wrap it. I was concerned, but didn't comment at the time, as I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt and try it at home. I live close by, so I was home with my order about 5 minutes later. When I unwrapped the shawarma, it was completely soaked through and falling apart. I called the store back, assuming they would offer to remake the shawarma if I returned with it. The employee instead argued that there was no problem with the order, since I had requested extra garlic, and that I should have said something before I left if I was dissatisfied. I let them know that when I left, the wrap was at least intact, but was so thoroughly soaked that the wrap had turned to mush by the time I got home, and was practically inedible now. The employee was adamant that there was no issue, and that they would not fix the order. I certainly understand that a business may be skeptical about remaking food items, as customers may occasionally be trying to take advantage, and get another meal for free. However, I had not eaten the wrap I received, and I was perfectly willing to return it and show them what a mess it had become. Mistakes happen preparing food orders, and that is not a big deal, however the poor customer service after, and denial that a mistake had been made at all, was substantially aggravating. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from this location...
Read moreWent inside at 6:55pm to pickup my order that was "ready" at 6:50 pm. The owner/manager and 2 workers ask me if I need help and I said I put my order in online at 6 pm for 4 items and I'm ready to pickup at 6:50. They all look at me in surprise and scramble around their orders and see my order and say we forgot to make it as they were too "busy". There was one customer in there and my order was an hour old so this excuse was inexcusable. I was on my way home from work and didnt want to wait so I decided cancel the order and said I'll take a refund. I couldn't wait that long for the food so I decided to go elsewhere. The owner tried to get me to stay and kept telling me he couldn't refund me and said "my time is more important". I said sorry gotta go I need the refund. Wouldn't refund me, they never even started making the order yet and refused me my money back. Unfortunately this isn't the first time they were late making my order. This is probably the 4th or 5th time, but the food was worth going back for and on top of that they actually had started the order those other 4 or 5 times. This last time the owner really showed his true colors so unfortunately I won't be back here. How do you refuse someone their refund when they left with nothing!...
