This was not my first visit and I only came to submit a review because the experience was so disappointing I think it should be noted. We went for a Thursday lunch at 11:30am and the parking lot was packed (I got the last available spot) but the restaurant was only about 1/3 full. My mother in law ordered hot water with lemon. The lemons were served sitting on top of the tiny tea pot and not on a side plate. It was disgusting to note that the bill charged $1.25 for hot water. This should be on the menu if there is a button on your till to change people for it, or at least suggest there is a charge for anything other than tap water. My son ordered the chicken fingers. They arrived and were clearly over done and I knew my kid would not eat it. I mentioned to the server that the chicken was darker than he preferred and ordered a waffle for him. Not wanting to make a scene or ruin the experience for the rest of us I didn't insist on removing it from the bill and said we would pack it to take home. My son has an eating disorder and meals are already challenging without conflict. The bill came and I was ready to pay and the tax was charged on the bill which is not in following the current government tax break incentive. Fortunately the server noted this as she was about to get me change so that I wasn't over charged $12. The whole experience was rather disappointing. I was being polite and kind and I didn't even have the hot water comped off a $90 lunch for 4 people, two being children who ordered off the main menu (we were never even offered a children's menu, so you have one). The more I think about it the more I'm disappointed with the...
Read moreWe’re new to PP and have been trying to find our GO TO spot. Sadly NONE of the restaurants measured up to HYLAND. We’ve been to so many local restaurants while waiting for our appliances that dining out became a chore. But NOT at the HYLAND.
There is enough background noise of chatter, dishes, and laughs that you can have a private conversation and not feel awkward. It would be great for a first date ( NOT a romantic proposal ), a business lunch, even a family intervention, it’s like I said ITS A GREAT GO TO SPOT
My family has eaten a lot of different meals from a very large menu. Everyone trying each other’s and ordering differently on return trips. The only thing better than the food is the staff. They are ALL friendly and willing to converse with you, time permitting.
Sadly we don’t know anyones name. So today we introduced ourselves to TANYA ( Tina ? ). SORRY I’m NOT GOoD with names. The only thing more sunny than my sunny side up eggs was TANYA’s demeanour. It was a pleasure meeting her. That said it’s been a pleasure with ALL HYLAND’s staff - I just don’t know there names, but we will !
See you soon …

Read moreHAIR IN FOOD!
Starting off strong, when the mug for the tea arrived, it had dirt, some sort of green veggie on it still from the wash; this was gross.
Went this morning for breakfast with a family member, when the food arrived, we saw a hair on the poached eggs, we sent the poached eggs back, they returned the eggs still with the hair on it! So a second time around the food was remade and it was mostly fine, until we found a piece of shell in the poached eggs; just gross.
Next, all the while we had also ordered a Florentine Benedict, when we started eating, about half way through there was a curly hair similar to the other plate, in the hollandaise sauce. So in total both of our dishes had hair in them.
As a note, our server Cathy was cordial. But the other server who took my plate, not so much.
Finally, once could be a mistake but all of these together are just not appropriate for a food establishment. One of the servers came over and took my plate and said it was an eyelash, but I disagree. With all this being said, If I could give zero stars for the food I would.
I will not be returning to this...
