Decent food (a bit overpriced compared to other breakfast places) but the customer service was severely lacking. We reached there around 1:20 pm on a Sunday. Signage said closing time is 3 pm, so we thought we had plenty of time. We sat down, but the staff did not look too happy with us being there. We ordered food, bottom less coffees and fresh orange juice (after confirming with the server that it was fresh), but the juice served was packaged, so we had to send it back, which the server took back reluctantly. Food came, and we were already out of coffee. So we asked for a refill, but it did not look like the server heard me. So we kept waiting to see if someone comes around, we can ask again. No one came for 20 mins, so my wife got up and went to the reception asking them to bring coffee. Few mins passed and no coffee still, but eventually a server came and told us they don't have more coffee as they are closing soon (it was 1:48 pm), so I got confused if we saw the sign wrong, and also how can they run out of "coffee" in an all day breakfast place. So I flagged another server, I asked her what time do they close, she said 3pm but informed they don't have coffee anymore. I was taken aback and felt like they didn't want to serve coffee so we leave soon, but then waitress said if we really need more coffee she will get some (this is after 0 refills offered). She finally came back with more coffee (which they should have 30 mins ago) after several mins when we were mostly finished. So we had some of it and left to pay. The moment we reached the counter at 2:01pm, the person said "all done?" subtly looking at time as if we were holding them back. We still can not believe our experience there, as we especially drove from GTA for this place based on the reviews, and what's more confusing is that most of the staff seemed nice but that did not translate into service.
Update: Responding to the owner’s comment. No you did not make the coffee when we asked the first time, or the second, or when the staff said you are about to close (an hour and 15 mins before the posted time, without advance indication), but almost 40 mins later when we flagged the lady who looked like a supervisor or a senior server; who also first asked if we really wanted coffee (?), before proceeding to go put a fresh pot. Again this should have been done 40 mins earlier when we first ordered the “bottomless” coffees, or should have advised you don’t intend to make more coffee, and we would have crossed the street to go the other breakfast place instead. Appreciate you took the time to respond, but you would benefit more by training the staff instead of making excuses for lack of customer service in...
Read moreHmm… overall not good at all. Visited this morning for my first and probably last time.
Let me start with the positives: the restaurant is nice and clean. They also seem to be managing the COVID rules well. Finally, their home fries are pretty good with onions. All of these are good points helping this place avoid 1 star.
On the negative side: their Eggs Benedict is easily the worst I’ve ever had and virtually inedible. The eggs were poached hard which is annoying but excusable, as these things can happen. However, the hollandaise sauce had about three times as much vinegar as it should and was just horrible.
This then brings me to the worst point. The staff were completely inattentive. They were nice, but as soon as they delivered the food, they were nowhere to be seen again until we were ready to pay the bill. When they picked up our plates they did not question or ask about our meal or maybe why more than half of it was untouched.
They were also nowhere to be seen with coffee refills which would have been super good to wash down the awful food. I got my first offer of a refill when I was ready to pay. Sadly too late.
Hope all of their other food is better than what we...
Read moreWent for breakfast today with my loved one at Sweet Maple All Day Breakfast and Lunch. The restaurant was nicely put together and looked clean. I found the service was well just ok.. nothing special. The waitress that served us seems like she was trying to avoid us. The food was also just ok nothing special ether. I'm pretty sure the server messed up my bill as 2 breakfasts at $12.00 each should not have costed almost $50.00 after tax and tip. Not sure if I will go back to that place. 😒
After posting this review I received a message on Facebook from Tina Bacon saying she would like to make things right with me and asked where I was seated. I answered her back with the information that she wanted and have not heard back from her since.
Looks like she was just Butt Hurt about getting s bad review.
Maybe it will teacher her not to avoid people that Pay good money to go into her restaurant.
What a shame. I WAS willing to give this place a better review. Oh well her loss...
