UPDATE: the owner reached out to me and we had a really good chat. Thank you so much for reaching out! She assured me that what we received today was not up to their standards and that they would be acting on it and offered to make it right. I really appreciate the kindness and for being open to feedback. We’ll be going to Kuro again and are looking forward to the improvements 😊

Not what it used to be. I remember dining and getting takeout here pretty regularly during 2020 - 2021. My husband and I used to love it! The portions were generous, the owners were sooo sweet and the food was delicious! I recommended this restaurant to all my friends! But after getting the wrong order three times in a row and the fish tasting not quite as fresh as it used to, we stopped going. Today we were in town and decided to get some Kuro. It had been a while. We ordered sushi roll combo C, a portion of salmon avocado roll and a spicy tuna roll. 55$ and all I had to show for it was a pile of rice with fish slices so thin you could almost see through it. AND sans spicy tuna roll!!! We’re so disappointed that one of our favourite restaurants in the area is one we won’t be returning to. I don’t know what happened! Did the owners change? I know food is getting expensive but to charge us 55$ for hardly a portion of fish is cheating your customers. I hope Kuro does better in the future. I added a photo of my order from 2020 next to what we received today. Clearly...

We had heard great things and read positive reviews so were excited to come here for a birthday dinner, but were quite disappointed. The decor and atmosphere were lovely from the time we walked in. We were seated promptly and our order was taken right away. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food, we overheard a server tell another table it would be an hour wait for food besides appetizers, but this was our first time hearing this. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so we were surprised to hear this and followed up with a server who confirmed the wait time. We would have been much more understanding of the wait time and potentially ordered drinks and appetizers had we been made aware of the wait time when seated or ordering. Once the food arrived (after just over an hour) we were again disappointed as most of the rolls did not have much fish/filling and had a lot of rice, even inside the roll. The sushi and sashimi were decent, but the rolls were subpar. We had quite high hopes based on personal recommendations and online reviews, so we aren’t sure what when wrong and hope this was an...

This place is so incredible. I never thought I would find such an excellent sushi restaurant in a small town on the east coast. There is an abundance of decor, making the interior of the restaurant very relaxing and dreamy, as if you were seated in a magical Japanese garden. Secondly, the food is excellent. The sushi is on par with top rated sushi restaurants in Vancouver, and although I did not have any, their ramen also seems very good. Not only is the food delicious, but the presentation is beautiful. The prices are also very reasonable, and are cheaper than what I would expect for sushi this good and the VERY generous portions. I would highly recommend stopping by this place, and it is a reason to drive to Shediac all on its own, and to make the extra 20 minute deviation from Moncton and the Trans-Canada highway if roadtripping through. Best sushi I've had outside of Vancouver...

The most enchanting restaurant! The photos don’t do it justice—it’s decorated with such care, charm, and precision that you’ll be mesmerized by the details. It makes for great fun while you’re waiting for your meal—which wasn’t long for us, by the way, despite the fact that it was rather busy at the time. The sushi itself was so fresh and delicious. Great options for vegetarians here and some vegan options as well. I had the tempura tofu and tempura yam rolls. The food was amazing, and combined with the charming decor it turned the outing into a true experience. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive, often coming by for water refills before we even had to ask. The prices were very reasonable and their selection allows for a quick snack or a full meal. Truly a destination—we are from Moncton and it was worth the short trip to Shediac for a meal. We will absolutely be back soon!
