Updated Review - May 2024 We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. We were sat promptly as it wasn't overly busy at 1PM. Our server was also quite prompt, but took her time bringing out our drinks
I ordered the fish & chips (fries, not their actually chips that they also offer). The fish was very tender yet flaky. It was probably the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. I did find that the coleslaw had a bit of a different flavour than I was expecting. I just wish the malt vinegar that I had requested was actually brought to me while I had my meal. Unfortunately our server seemed to be a bit off her game today. My wife really enjoyed her steak sandwich with chips, but had she known that she was going to be charged for the aoili dip that was offered for the chips, she shouldn't have taken it as she didn't enjoy it at all.
Overall B&G serves some great food and drinks, but I was a little disappointed with the service this visit.
Original Review - October 2022 Stopped in to Blowers & Grafton on a Monday afternoon for a lunch date with my wife. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was fairly busy, but there were still tables available without having to wait.
My wife ordered the OG Caesar and absolutely loved it, and so did I as it's literally a drink with an appetizer. The donair meat had a nice seasoned flavour, as did the piece of pepperoni.
I ordered the large donair with cheese and a side of fries and gravy. The donair was delicious, although it was loaded with onions (my fault for not asking for no onions, that's on me), so I had to dissect my donair to pull the majority of them off as there were way too many for my liking. The fries were nice and crunchy yet soft in the middle, and the gravy was tasty, fresh and tasted of beef drippings. The only thing I'm a little disappointed with was the price of cheese for the donair at $4. This seems a little extreme given the amount of cheese that is actually in the donair. Had I looked at the price of the cheese, I wouldn't have added it.
My wife had the Cajun Chicken Caesar wrap with chips and their lemon dill aioli. The wrap and chips were quite delicious, but there wasn't much heat to the Cajun seasoning, which my wife enjoyed. Had I ordered it, I would've expected a bit more heat with the Cajun spices. The lemon dill aioli was alright but nothing special.
We topped off our lunch with the campfire s'mores dessert which was very tasty. The chocolate ganache was a little too liquid for our liking, but this could be because the skillet was quite hot.
And since it was Monday, we decided to grab a donair pizza to go as pizzas are $5 off on Monday (in restaurant I'm guessing). It was also very delicious, but I don't know if I would pay $26 for it regularly.
We'll definitely return to try some of their other offerings such as the...
Read moreWe have lived in Sherwood Park for almost three years, and we FINALLY got to try this place! It had been on our list for a while, due to recommendations from friends. The atmosphere is cozy – spacious, clean, and nice lighting. We visited when the Oilers were playing, so the televisions in the entire restaurant & bar were showing the game; but it wasn’t too loud or obnoxious the way I have experienced in other ‘pub’ like restaurants. They have various types of seating: some standard booths that seat four, long family-style tables with lower height stool chairs, bar seating with high stools, and half booths with high bar stools. I wouldn’t say that there are any accessible seats available, as all the booths have at least one step up to get into them … but someone with a walker and/or wheelchair may be able to sit at one of the family-style long tables with the lower stools moved out of the way. The bathrooms are large and clean, with a handicapped stall and both hand air dryers & paper towels. There is also a sound system in the bathrooms so you can clearly hear the hockey game/whatever they are showing on the televisions at the time. The menu has plenty of options! So many dishes are based on Canadian classics and, obviously, lots of seafood and Donair dishes. On the weekends they have brunch until 2pm. The Lobster Eggs Benedict is delicious – very rich and creamy. It seems like they often have couples’ menus/specials going on; they were advertising the Valentine’s day special for the upcoming holiday. Our server was nice and pretty quick to refill our drinks. The parking can be a bit cramped if the restaurant is busy, especially with sharing space with the McDonalds there. But there is plenty of parking in Emerald Hills shopping area all around, so even if you have to park in another lot it isn’t a far walk. We will definitely go back and try some...
Read moreI had an absolutely horrible experience at Blowers & Grafton, all thanks to their so-called “supervisor,” Shawn—if that’s even his real name, since he wasn’t wearing a name tag. I placed an order through Uber Eats for pickup, expecting a smooth process. What I got instead was pure incompetence, rudeness, and outright hostility.
Upon arrival, I politely asked the hostess multiple times about my order. Each time, I was completely ignored—no updates, no effort to check, just blank stares and avoidance. After waiting far too long, I asked another employee, who I believe was Shawn, to check on my food. Instead of assisting, he immediately escalated the situation with an attitude that was beyond unprofessional.
He falsely accused me of verbally abusing his staff and claimed he had called my name twice—an absolute lie, as I was standing there the whole time and never heard a thing. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Shawn then began verbally threatening me, at one point even refusing to give me the food I had already paid for. It was as if he was on some kind of power trip, completely disregarding basic customer service.
To top it all off, he apparently assumed I was an Uber driver and tried to ban me from ever picking up food again. The level of arrogance and unprofessionalism was off the charts. This isn’t just bad customer service—it’s a disgrace.
Up next, Supervisor Shawn—who wasn’t even wearing a name tag, so I have no way of verifying his name—if management would like to know more about this situation, I am more than open to discussing it further and identifying those involved. Customers deserve respect, and what happened here was completely...
