Was driving around looking for a quick bite on Sunday at 8 pm before my hospital appt and stumbled upon SmashBurger. I've had this chain before in Calgary and it was decent so I expected a similar experience but boy was I wrong. Ordered a double bacon burger with the smash fries. It came out fairly quickly but let's start with the fries. They were shiny meaning fresh out the fryer but they shouldn't be that shiny that it's greasy. The entire order of fries was glistening in grease. Taste was meh honestly. The seasoning blend of rosemary and etc didn't do the fries any advantage. Next was the double bacon burger. Upon first look it looked like a decent burger but first bite was grease. I've never had such a greasy burger in my life. The whole burger just dripped of grease and I used all 4 napkins given to me to keep cleaning my hands from the grease. The wax paper it's served on you could see the leftover grease on the paper. The patties tasted like ground beef but odd almost meat loaf like with tons of binder and not just ground beef. I expected a crust on the patties but sadly this burger did not have any. I can say this was the worst burger I've had from a burger chain. Greasy. Tasteless. All it had for sauce was mayo. And the fact I was given 4 ketchup packets too. That was pretty sad. Smash burger has gone down hill hence why there is only one chain left in Edmonton and sadly this will be my last visit. The time I went there was literally me and another family of 6. Otherwise it was empty. Should of went to Blowers and Grafton for a...
Read moreWell, as a whole, I was pretty disappointed and won't go here again. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit the mark. My husband and I stopped to grab some food on our way home today, to go and we figured let's give smashburger a try as neither of us had been. The drive home is only about a 10 minute drive from restaurant.
He got the BBQ brisket double with the fancy tater tots, and I got the avocado bacon single with the brussel sprouts. He said his was alright, although he was expecting for a double, for it to be more filling than it was and didn't really hit the mark for him, but at least it was still fairly warm when we got home and his bun was soft. The tots weren't anything to write home about either 🤷🏼♀️.
My burger, I was more disappointed than him. I'm fairly certain they just pulled my bun out of the fridge as it had that stiffness that fridge bread has, and it was literally cold and my burger itself was barely above room temperature. Again, it should have made the 10 minute drive home no problem but it did not. And as for flavour, eh. Again, not anything to write home about, I truly wasn't impressed with anything I got here, I didn't have a moment where I thought "wow, this was worth $45 for a 2 meals!". The brussel sprouts were alright and if I had to choose would probably be my favourite part, but they also weren't hot and didn't taste particularly fresh.
I dunno, it was all pretty meh and certainly wasn't worth almost $50...
Read moreWe used to come here often, and hadn't been in a while thought we would try it again. This evening will be our last visit. We had a large order for six adults, three meals came out in approximately 20min. Forty minutes later, the remaining orders still had not come out (that's a full hour after ordering) when we inquired, the cook staff had completely forgotten to make it. That in itself was disappointing, but we thought, okay now they know. Cook staff took another 25 minutes and found it very funny. There was not alot of other customers so not sure why the time delay... Or where the humour was found. We asked for a refund and prepared to leave, they would not grant us this so we waited. When we asked for some sort of a perk because our wait time was now almost 1hr 30 min they responded with 'no I cannot, that would come off my pay cheque'. Not sure who is management here, but poor customer service, poor cook staff and just overall poor everything. If your coming into Sherwood Park and looking for a good burger place I would suggest Five Guys on Wye Rd or the new Butcher Shop by Festival Place called Rib Eye. Wish we could give no stars... Also, we'll we were there two other customers walked out. Badly done...
