Memphis Blues BBQ House — Restaurant in Sherwood Park

Hey all, so me and a buddy of mine from Texas went on Friday to Memphis Blues for lunch on Friday ….. walking in first impressions were very good …. Looks like a southern hole in the wall the atmosphere is perfect for what it is . I ordered the 2 meat platter and my buddy was craving Cat fish .

So my lunch came to $39.00 that included a soda and a 5% tip . My buddy’s was right around $32.00 .

We got seated and the server brought us some chicken and corn chowder with corn bread. The chowder was good , needed a little salt and pepper but very enjoyable. It also came with a side of corn bread …. The corn bread was some of the best corn I have had in a long time .

Then our meals showed up .

There was a lot of food on both plates . Brisket and sausage, potato salad, coleslaw, cornbread, and BBQ sauce.

Brisket was dry, under seasoned and very little smoke taste . Sausage was very dry and very little flavour or smoke. Potato salad was fine Coleslaw was fine Corn bread very good BBQ sauce was good

The Catfish platter had Catfish was over cooked and no flavour or seasoning . Coleslaw was fine Big basket of fries … they were tasty, well seasoned . Some sort of aoli / spicy mayo dressing … very good.

Overall the sides were good and good portions. The main proteins were all overcooked and lacking flavour.

Going to try the other proteins over the coming weeks and see if this was...

I had 3 visits to this restaurant with 7 hungry crewmen while working in Edmonton.

1st and 2nd visits were simply outstanding Good music, good cold beer (try the Russell Cream Ale) and the food was outstanding. (try the brisket w/butter) So much so, we were keen to come back. Well, 3rd visit… not so much..

Music turned down low and high attitude from our server…

“No table service today because we might get busy and there’s only two of us…” It should be stated here that the restaurant was occupied by us (7) and one other patron…. That’s right… one other patron.

Too bad… what could have been a Triple Crown of a great Edmonton BBQ experience spoiled by a Karen waiter who felt the need to “enforce policy”, even when specifically asked to make an exception.

In the end, it should noted that he did bring our food to the table… effort appreciated but all too late for this guy. Appetite ruined & annoyed…

Oh well… lesson learned. Lots of other BBQ places in...

We used Memphis Blues to cater our wedding and let’s just start with WOW! Super easy to book with them, always extremely helpful when I had questions, was off to a great start before we even had them. Day of the wedding there were on time, super organized and professional. Oh and the food was PERFECT! Everyone at our wedding absolutely loved the food and could not stop talking about how good it was. The best part though was the service. We were not expecting it to be so good but it far exceeded our expectations. We had our two year old at our wedding and I had made a comment saying she loved the corn bread and croutons to one of the staff. A few moments later that same staff member brought over to our table a little plate of just croutons and corn bread for our daughter it’s was absolutely adorable and we really appreciate the thought she put in.
