I recently purchased my first Smarties blizzard through drive thru. I was not aware at the time of purchase that the Smarties blizzard came with chocolate sauce as well. Upon receiving the blizzard, I went into the store to seek clarification on my order. I let Sam know that I would appreciate having a Smarties blizzard with Smarties and ice cream, no chocolate sauce. Sam proceeded to inform me that I 'should have known' the blizzard came with chocolate sauce. This took me aback. I inquired if all blizzards automatically came with chocolate sauce, and he explained no. I then proceeded to ask where on the menu it says that the blizzard comes with chocolate sauce, he then told me it doesn't, I should just know. At this point he was yelling and told me if I wanted a new blizzard I would have to buy one as the one I was holding (that I hadn't eaten and didn't want) was 'tainted'. I have never felt so under valued, disrespected and simply confused. I then learned that the smarties blizzard, according to Sam, comes with chocolate sauce, as I should have known, because it is chocolate, but the Oreo blizzard does not, as if I should know? At this point he was irate with me, there was a line up of customers and a lovely couple came up, took my blizzard, and purchased a new one for me because they wanted to 'enjoy their Sunday'. Needless to say, I left in tears, confused and simply taken back at the way I was treated for a simple misunderstanding. Sam came across self righteous and lacks simply human decency and humility. On top of all of this, the employees would not provide me with the managers name or contact information...
Read moreIt's so bad. The 'hot' food is horrible. I had a chicken burger that tasted like it was made a week ago, left out in the open and got stale and then they threw it in the microwave. It was jerky! Yet they charge the same or more as other fast food places. I watched them for a bit, and it seemed like the microwave was used for everything on the 'hot' menu. This location is the slowest I have EVER seen at a Dairy Queen. If you want a blizzard they take a MINIMUM of 5 minutes per dessert to make. Usually for 2 large blizzards with no one ahead of you, you'd be looking at about 15 minutes to get them (you have to throw on some extra time for them to socialize). This location also makes the worst blizzards and ice cream treats... 99% of all the ingredients are still on the bottom. You eat vanilla ice cream and then get to the bottom and have an overwhelming amount of toppings. At least if they took their time but did a good job, it wouldn't be so bad. Any time I have been there I have not seen a manager, its almost all teens that are doing the work and no one to keep...
Read moreWhen it comes to quick eats in Smithers DQ is my go to. The staff is always super friendly and the food is always exactly how I expect it to be! The only problem here sometimes; and I hear it from my friends to, is lids in the drive through. Sometimes the lid is not on properly which leads to a loss of your treat and a bit of a mess.
Today I ended up with chocolate in the iced tea I'd just placed in the cup holder and chocolate pooled in the emergency break button in my ford.
That's the only improvement I would like to see at my local DQ is a little more care when placing lids on for drive through orders. I would prefer the safety of my cars interior and the safety of my treat over having it handed to me 2 seconds sooner. I really don't mind waiting.
The staff working the winder was apologetic and helpful. I was provided with all the napkins I needed to help...
