Stayed here and requested a room close to an exit as i have a dog. They put me near the exit. However, the keys did not work to get into that exit. So i had to walk around the building to the front entrance rather than all the way through the maze of this establishment. Went to the front desk 5 times cause my keys would not work in the room door. They never worked for the exit door. The rooms smelt like curry and body odor mixed. It was absolutely disgusting. The floor boards in the room were loose, not sure if they were storing stuff under the floor boards. Front desk staff is extremely rude and dont care about customer service or the fact that the keys dont work. The parking lot was a sking rink. Somone is going to alip and sue this place. But once again, staff didn't care. There was also a pot hole in one of the parking stalls that's so big it would swallow a cars whole tire. Once again, staff didn't care to block it off. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Place reminds me of a detention facility

It wasn't my first choice but the sandman was full and we have a dog so our options were limited. Capri staff were nice and friendly. Hotel is very dated and a bit run down. Carpets are stained(halls and rooms). Decor is old. Room cleanliness was okay. No bugs, I checked. Clean towels and sheets, mattresses were comfy and didn't look too old. Tub was stained and I found cup rings on the night side stand. Dust in a few places (like the top of the headboard). Screw for the door latch came out and door wouldn't close. Cable tv didn't work(apparently for whole hotel from what I heard from other guests). A/c worked well. Hair dryer was garbage, only blew warm air. Continental breakfast was meh. Cereal, muffins and hardboiled eggs. Decent kurig for coffee. Was it worth the savings? Not for me. But we needed a place to crash for the night and Capri was it. I'll admit the hotel was quiet and I did sleep well. And it is clean where it counts....beds, bedding and towels.

Pros: SUPER SOFT towels, very nice. The sink and toilet were exceptionally clean. Bed was neatly made and no bed bugs. Pillows great. Shower has lots of pressure, very good. Room has a mini fridge and microwave. I forgot to pack popcorn. CONS: as many have said, the bathrooms REALLY need some work. Ceiling in bathroom was rusty, and you could see sagging panels from past roof leaks. Shower sealant between upper and lower half looked kinda rotten. Hole in the wall next to the tub. Cinder block wall isn’t that inviting, and the rest of the room looks slightly dated. Worst part was the dust in the heater that I could see, which led me to find the caked on dust in the filter that’s in the room and easily cleanable. I could kinda feel the dust floating in the room because of this.

Absolutely Do Not Recommend – Misleading Photos and Unacceptable Conditions

We had a deeply unsettling experience at the Capri Motor Inn in Smithers and want to share this review to save fellow travelers the trouble.

When we pulled up, we were immediately concerned—multiple windows were broken, and the parking lot was completely empty, which stood out considering other hotels in town were mostly booked. There was no one at the front desk, and several guests were already waiting. After calling the hotel, someone finally arrived to check us in.

Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. The hallway to our room had water leaks on the floor, what appeared to be bloodstains, and scattered furniture and clothing. One room along the hall was wide open and completely packed floor to ceiling with garbage, debris, old mattresses, and random items—it looked more like a dumping ground than a hotel.

When we entered our room, it became immediately clear it hadn’t been cleaned since the last guests checked out. The beds were messy, lights were still on, and the entire space felt unsanitary and neglected.

We returned to reception to explain the situation. They offered us a different room, and we asked to see it first. As we walked down the same hallway again, moths flew out of the hoarder-like garbage room, and the entire area gave off an undeniable sense of unease. At that point, we asked for a refund and left.

The pictures online—especially on Expedia—are incredibly misleading. This hotel is not just outdated; it’s in a state of visible disrepair and feels completely unsafe and unhygienic.

Thankfully, we found a cozy and clean Airbnb in Telkwa, just a short drive from Smithers, and had a great stay there instead. There are better options nearby—don’t let availability trick you into settling for this place. Your peace of mind and safety are worth the extra...

I had one the worst experience in my limited traveling experiences.

It started out when the rude guy at front desk said I had 3 reservations for the week I was here I had booked with 1 800 number

So with help of my sister we called the number and confirmed it was 1 reservation. The guy at front desk finally agreed to cancel the two others without cancelation fees . I had a feeling he wasn't honest so I locked my credit card.

And yes he did indeed try and charge me the cancelation fees twice once right after I had gone to bed and before his shift changed.

Next morning we discovered construction garbage at the top of the stairwell We had gone out for the out for most the day when we returned we were beside the room being worked on People in other rooms walking the halls rude To realize the ac wasn't installed properly We hadn't received maid service for fresh towels and garbage. The key card didn't work ( every day it had to be fixed) Next morning we asked front desk to make sure we got maid service and was met with more rudeness oh now you want maid service to.

The absolute last straw when I walked into the hall to 3 nude people 1 of which I am pretty sure had od and the others where delivering narcan they managed to get dressed and dragged him to a car drove off

We move to a much nicer...

I would have rated 3.5 stars because of getting a great rate, great coffee, great parking, and a level of shabbiness relative to price-the room was less that $100 and had continental breakfast and unlimited coffee. Service was fine except for the unexplained charges... an extra charge appeared on my card statement from Capri after the room charge, and I was unable to have it resolved until I contacted my credit card company. The first day that spoke to the desk at Capri resulted in no response in 24 hours. Second day, I spoke to the manager, and he said he would respond or resolve within hours. I also immediately emailed the hotel as per his instructions. No response in 24 hours. I then reported/disputed the charge with my credit card company and it was promptly reversed. I still haven't heard from Capri for an explanation. I would recommend always getting a printed receipt on checkout and if unexplained charges later appear on your card statement, just report them to your credit card company. And since I'm on a rant, I should mention that the "courtyard parking" entrance was so grubby I actually mentioned to the desk on checking out that they should just sweep it up for appearances sake. I wasn't going to report that online, I told them... well, I wouldn't have...if they had responded to the...
