I recently visited Smithers for the first time, we had heard an old family story about our great great grandfather as a pioneer in the area. We went to the Museum to look for an information on him, and to our amazement they had entire folder on him in the Archives. To be able to see marriage announcements, the lumberyard receipt for building his house, and to learn they had lost a baby boy. Kira at the front was so wonderful and helpful, she is an amazing lady who even emailed me follow up information. Thank you to her and the BV Museum for preserving history and allowing me to get to know someone I never would have known. Read moreWhen I visited there was a traveling exhibit there that had nothing to do with Smithers. It took up a lot of room and from the pictures others have posted it replaced a big chunk of the usual exhibits. That is really unfortunate as the parts of Smither's history that were there were very informative. The story of the US bomber was really interesting.
