One of the best Indian food weāve had, both dine in and take away. Tonight we ordered online for the first time and that was fine. The website has beautiful photos of the dishes and it was fairly user friendly. Iāve seen other restaurants do this with their menu, where thereās a āliveā menu where you actually order (click ONLINE ORDER), and then thereās a simple menu which just lists the items, price and a brief description. It is easier to view all of the items in one place here but with no pictures. The Online Order tab has the items categorized into 14 different categories with stunning photos! After you finalize your order, they instruct you to call to confirm which is great because sometimes the pick up times that the webpage suggests isnāt accurate. It also assures you that your order is indeed in.
Now letās talk about the food. They specialize in north India and Mughalai cuisine, which originally was prepared for the royalty of great palaces. Absolutely divine. We had the fish coconut, butter chicken and veg korma, sides of rice, traditional and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOld school cozy Indian Restaurant located in Sooke. Food is good, I would specifically say that this place serves Indian Food which is adjusted to cater to the more bland taste, or should I say āIndian Food adjusted for White Peopleā. This by all means is all good, since I have Canadian friends who canāt tolerate moderate desi spice levels. Chicken Biriyani, Butter Chicken and Naan Bread was alright, I would give all of the dishes 6.5/10 considering I am fond of authentic Indian delicacy. The staff, specially the young lady in the front was amazing and very hospitable, she made sure to follow up if we needed anything else and on the food, cheers to her for being a good host. I prefer having Indian Food the way they are meant to be, masala kicking and spicy. I can totally see many people loving the food here. If you want to have Indian food, but without the spice, this is the place.
The one thing I absolutely loved about this place is the cozy setup and decor. This place has this old school Indian resto type of feel to it. Would be a bliss to visit during...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do not have much experience with Indian quisine but I know what I like and the food tasted great. My experience would have been enhanced if the waiter twigged to my comment 'I haven't eaten Indian food before' and been better guided in what to expect. I think he was trying but didn't help much. He did show concern when my wife ordered just chicken fried rice. He kept saying it was just dry rice with chicken pieces in it. After a bit I realized he was saying the rice is just a side dish. Also, we were concerned about the heat of the food. We both love it, just can't tolerate it. We finally settled on butter chicken, almond chicken, garlic naan and the rice. Turns out it was way too much food, we shouldn't have selected two chicken entrees. Most important though, the food was amazing. Delicious. We were not disappointed that we had leftovers to take home and enjoy again. Too, the bill was no more than we've paid elsewhere for less food. Next visit, and there will be more, we'll be wiser and explore...
