9114 51st Ave Edmonton T6E 5L8 The Diary of a Once Loyal Customer...
On an early July 2025 morning, with no customers in front or behind me, i simply ordered a BLT to-go.
The lady working the sandwich station told me to sit down and she would bring it to me. Which was confusing, because I ordered it to go and I thought this was a custom sandwhich location, meaning it was quick and I was able to add different vegetables or sauces on my sandwich while she prepared it. (Kind of like Subway)
But I reluctantly sat down anyways, noticing she had already unnecessarily laid out out my entire sandwhich toppings on the bare cutting board while waiting for the bread to toast. While seated for my apparent "dine in" sandwich experience, I was pondering what sauces would be put on it since I was not directly involved with the decision-making. Also, I was hoping to add onion but was unable to do so from the comfort of the seat I did not want.
But after being told to sit down and watching the line grow in front of me with new customers, I decided to wait patiently and see what my sandwich would become.
It wasn't long after my delivery sandwich that was slapped together was handed to me.
No visible sauces were found, and obviously, NO custom vegetables or salt n peppers were added since i was seated almost an entire city block away.
Im so confused because I thought this was Edmontons top custom sandwhich spot??
Imagine ordering a tuna sub from Subway and having the lady working the counter tell you to sit down and she will decide your vegetables and sauces.
This is such a weird experience
However, the BLT was still delicious 😋
Fast forward a few weeks later, same lady, same BLT sandwiches, ordered 2 this time.
She again asked me to sit down, and she will deliver my sandwhich, which, this time, i politely refused. 👍
Again, she began making the sandwiches and preparing the bare condiments (lettuce tomato bacon & cheese) ahead of time unnecessarily and sitting them on the cutting board without asking me what sauces or veggies I would like on them.
Again, slapping them together.
Prior to her completing the BLT's i asked for lil extra mayo on there and perhaps some salt and pepper since there was almost none.
She did, but seemingly out of frustration, this time added way too much extra, causing a huge disgusting glob of mayonnaise to drip down the top of my sandwich, apparently she didnt notice.
I kindly asked her to remove the massive glob of mayo left behind.
Annoyed, she proceeded to do so with her finger (instead of a knife or something other than her finger) and then wiped it off on my other slice of bread, causing finger indentations in the sandwhich
I am absolutely disgusted 🤢🤮 and baffled by the management who is clearly present during these times does not intervene, correct the behaviour or even notice it's happening.
After 20 years of loyal service. I will simply and easily find another local alternative and avoid this place...
Read moreQuick: Food is good and well priced, but the service and overall vibes left something to be desired.
Long: Ordered a vegetarian sandwich and it was well made and full. There's nothing special about it but it's a good standard with fresh ingredients. Quite tasty in the end.
However, when I went to order the sandwich it was all business and impersonal. It was kind of off-putting to not experience any friendliness and feel rushed.
However, when I sat down to eat, the manager (I think) called all the front staff employees and proceeded to give notes about what to do and not to do when there's customers and when there's not. This was extremely unprofessional and I felt uncomfortable being within listening distance of their reprimand. It did not seem like a friendly interaction. This all should've been done in the back or in a meeting...not where customers are within earshot. As well, more customers approached the line while he was talking at them. It seems like all the employees are unhappy and it makes sense with the way they're being talked to. Even if the talk is justified, it should not be done out in the front. That's embarrassing for the workers.
I will not return based on the way the employees were treated without dignity...
Read moreI’ve frequented the other location for years. Thought I’d try this one with a friend. This location was not it for me. I’ll be sticking to the 99st location.
The good:
sandwiches & baked good were great, as expected. Fresh & good quality ingredients.
I could finally try their caesar salad. 99st is always out when I go somehow.
The bad:
2/4 employees were cold & not welcoming. Not a smile in site.
I asked for a Caesar salad (not realizing there were 2 sizes). After I paid, I realized I was given the larger size. I wasn’t asked what size I wanted, the employee just assumed I’d want the large (which is $11). It was massive- why would ONE person want such a huge portion?
while we were eating our food, the manager (I’m assuming) came out from the back & called all the employees around him. He proceeded to reprimand them & was telling them what to do “when there are customers around”. Not sure what it was about, but it was unprofessional. He continued this conversation while customers were in line waiting to order.
overall atmosphere was not inviting because of everything...
