Cafe On 54th — Restaurant in South Industrial District

I stumbled upon this spot yesterday while searching for something new on my lunch break and boy am I glad I did. As soon as I walked in and saw their kitchen set up, I knew it was going to be delicious. It's a simple set up, nothing fancy or gimmicky because they don't need it; the proof is in the pudding. The food was amazing quality and it felt like someone made it for me from their own home. If you miss a home cooked meal, go see them. I had the BBQ sandwich and it could have been one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Soft bread, tons of flavour, tender beef.. I think I'll be getting my lunch there often...

This is what I've been looking for! An old school sandwich shop making classic sandwiches very well. My husband had the Reuben...the smoked meat was some of the best I've had. (Made me wonder where they get it). I ordered tuna salad...the recipe was classic and tasted exactly like the tuna salad my grandma made when I was a kid. The price is great too...paid what we would have at a fast food place.

They also have a classic breakfast menu that we're definitely coming back to try.

Were it not for the "sandwich" board outside along the avenue, you might easily drive by and miss the great sandwiches inside! Everything here is hand cut and home made fresh to order. Great prices and huge portions. The Korean street toast and BBQ sandwiches are comforting, but the Reuben is sumptuous and easily my favorite. Deliciously messy! So many new twists and classics to try here! Not on the south side often at lunch time, but its my go-to $10 in a rush lunch hitting the big Three F's!! Fast - Filling...
