Update: 5 September 2025 Recently, I visited Haweli restaurant for takeout, intending to purchase Kulche Chole, which was advertised on your Facebook page for $9 as a September lunch special. However, when I went to pay, staff member with Turban intended to charge me $18. When I questioned this, referencing the $9 Facebook promotion, he initially claimed that promotion was "a while ago" and then stated the $9 price was only valid if I shared about the restaurant on social media and wrote a review.
This condition was not stated anywhere on your Facebook advertisement. After leaving, I re-checked your Facebook page and confirmed that the $9 price for several items was advertised without any such stipulations. It appears this individual was attempting to overcharge me. While he eventually honored the $9 price by saying, "I will only do it for you this time," the interaction was highly deceptive.
Furthermore, he insisted I write another review, despite my explanation that I had already posted a popular review a few years prior due to being a frequent customer. This pressure was quite annoying.
Although the food quality was very good, this experience was disappointing. I recommend that management address this issue, as it seems there is a pattern of overcharging customers by him through misleading promotions. Such practices undermine trust and deter customers from returning.
3 Year Past Review Such a cozy place to be at. Their Manchurian balls are my all time favorite. We ordered vegetable manchurian, fried rice and vegan momos. The food was great except for the vegan momos, they were just ok. The filling wasn't so good. I have tried other things at this place in the past and they never disappoint you.
This is one of my favorite places to be at. Apart from food I like their sitting area. They do have a few spots that give you some privacy. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and every wall is well lit with arts from all parts of India. At any restaurant as much as food matters. For me applausing what I see around, is talk of the table as well.
Writing about food. I love their thali option. They reintroduced it now. I had tried it few years ago and It was great back then. After watching lots of food videos I was always interested in thali. It gives you an idea of different foods they offer; very much...
Read moreI am new to Edmonton. Was looking for some good Desi food. I had seen this restaurant while passing by. Finally decided to go there to try, but the biggest mistake was that I didn't check the reviews. First of all, their prices were sky high, almost 1.5x than the average rates. I thought they had spent a lot on decor, so its okay. What expected was amazing taste and service. However, when we were waiting for food I saw a big dead fly on the window panel, right beside we were sitting. Also, some flies flying around us, not to forget fluff also. I asked the server to change the table, and he agreed, got a new table. Then our food arrives, the worst mango lassi I have had in Canada. Below average appetizer, which was their dish of the day. And the main course, totally yuck, felt like my 10-year-old cousin made it. The appearance of the dish itself was just like that. We got our food after waiting for 30 minutes or so. The restaurant was empty, but they were short staffed. I don't know about the fly thing, I should report it to the AHS or no. Finally, when I paid the bill, I had a feeling like I was ripped off by Haweli. I would say paying my $150 speeding ticket felt better than paying a bill at Haweli. I'm never going back there and never recommending to others. The ambiance and decor (apart from fly thing)were good, but the purpose of the restaurant is, of course, good food and service, which I think the management doesn't know. They should convert it into a museum. " OONCHI DUKAN,...
Read moreThis was an experimental visit as we had been forewarned about the rates (more than the food). Coming from India and travelled extensively across North, South, this can't get more realistic: a) Masala Dosa - Nowhere close to any south indian flavor - the "coconut chutney" didn't have any taste that resembles coconut, the sort of "green chutney" had raw flour taste, "tomato chutney" was miles away. Sambhar, trust me was attrocious; b) Makki di roti and Sarson da saag - This was sure a missi roti served instead of Makki di roti (I hope the restaurant knows the differrence), leave alone the sarson da saag, or dare I call it "sarson puree"; c) Bhature Chhole - Bhature cooked while the oil must have not been optimal temperature, leading to undercooked taste. The Onion and dhania chutney was sad. Carrot pickle was stale. The chholey was no where near the authentic taste leave alone the overpowering "chaat masala" apparently put into it to "bring in indian taste"? Horrendous experience on taste, extremely disheartening - looks like there is no quality/ taste check - possibly because the bar overshadows the taste requirement? Conflict of interest, I guess, where flavor takes a back seat, in favor of the margins forthcoming from the bar/ beverages section. Never going...
