Jerusalem Shawarma Edmonton South — Restaurant in Edmonton

Decided to break my rules and ordered from this establishment before I even tried it by myself. Not sure why I took the risk to do this as it was for an important event. Be aware, their instagram posts do not reflect what they are serving, the colours and the beauty of the food. Everything that they post is completely looks more bland in person and not as entertaining.

Where do I start.. I ordered shawarma platters for 8 people. Came in on Friday to pick it up and the service was good, I cannot complain about that. With the tip I payed nearly $200.00 which I think is fare pricing, I expected to have enough for 8 people. Rice and chicken was good portion, salad, roasted potatoes and hummus portion in the other hand was not enough. My complaint is not mostly on the portion sizes, but mostly the taste of the food to be honest. Let’s start with the chicken, the chicken tasted very poorly and lacked good flavour, the rice was passable. The hummus the flavour was so bland and had the consistency of adding fillers to make it more abundant to sell. The garlic butter I didn’t even put it out to serve, the salad was so soggy, no taste and definitely not enough for 8 people. Let’s just say I could have gone to local market, gotten the chickens, bought cut salad and rice from a local restaurant and I would have been ahead. I was very disappointed as I should have stuck with the regular shawarma place I order from and done in regularly. When you compare the flavours of both restaurants , I will never go back to this establishment. Sorry!

I don’t want to start drama by mentioning their competitors, but you can see that review on my profile. This review was not written to knock this place down, but to shed light and my honest opinion. I hope that the management reads this and improves things on their end. Constructive criticism is a good thing for a business and helps them a lot in my opinion.

I would like to share a concerning incident that occurred today at Jerusalem Shawarma in Edmonton—South branch. This afternoon, my family and I went there for a dine-in experience and ordered Arabi Shawarma. After we paid, we took our table number and sat down. Throughout this time, the delivery lady at the front counter was repeatedly announcing a name and number, which my wife noticed.

Fifteen minutes later, the waiter presented the Arabi Shawarma in a plastic container with a lid. My wife immediately pointed out that this had been the situation all along. I expressed my concern to the waiter, stating that I had specifically requested to dine in, and emphasized that this method of service was inappropriate for the experience we expected. He replied, "It is served this way, and it will be convenient for us to take the leftovers home."

Upon examining the contents of the container, I noticed a lack of dips, which are essential to the dish. I inquired about their absence, and the waiter assured me that he would retrieve them before walking away.

When we opened the container, we noticed that the shawarmas were cold and the fries were soggy. The waiter also did not return with any dips. I decided to walk to the counter to speak with someone and resolve the issue, but it was quite busy, and no one seemed willing to listen.

I am writing to inform management that we travelled out on this cold day with the expectation of having a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, you guys served an undelivered meal box to our table, which is unacceptable.

Additionally, I want to address the waiter. I visit this location quite often and just yesterday enjoyed the same meal at your West Edmonton branch, so we know this has to be served. I will attach the bills for reference, so please do not deny this. It was disappointing to have our day ruined by such poor service.
