2025 Update: Came back to give this place a try again and I feel like my black milk tea was fine but the toppings were not good. I got half choice of gold pearls and taro balls. The gold pearls and mini taro balls were too mushy.
I don't know if the AC is working or not but it's so stuffy and hot inside. I remember feeling this way last summer but they still have not fixed the issue. When it got busy, there's a certain smell in there too.
2024: I ordered a large black milk tea with taro balls and less ice. The drink is smooth and not super diluted compared to other places which is good. I felt like the black tea flavour could have stood out a bit more though? My partner got the black tea with cream foam and gold pearls. The ice level is fixed in this drink, he thought the drink was just okay as the cream foam is more of a salty foam to balance with the black tea. However he felt like for the price you're paying, it's definitely not worth it. What's confusing though is that this drink can only be ordered in a regular size ... which doesn't make the most sense because it's just steeped black tea with a top layer of cream foam?
Customer service wise was interesting, the person taking our order kept messing up so I had to repeat our orders 3 times for her to get it correctly. She seemed quite confused and didn't really know the menu that well.
I will say that during the hotter summer days, the store can heat up inside quite a bit. They need to install blinds or something because when it got busier, everyone was trying to stand along the sides of the wall avoiding the open space of the sun shining in.
Overall, I am not too sure if I would like to come back again given my experience but it could have just been...
Read moreI've been to this location of Machi Machi a dozen times at least. This has quickly become one of my favourite spots in the city for a delicious treat. After my favourite Matcha place closed down, this is the only place that makes very high quality matcha drinks in Edmonton. They use authentic imported matcha from Japan (i'm assuming ceremonial grade by the taste and texture) and it's a wonderful strong flavour. Genuinely unmatched for matcha quality amongst every other tea/bubble tea location in the city at the moment. I regularly get the mochi matcha and red bean smoothie (?) which is a blended drink with red bean, creme brulee and 3 pearls of roasted mochi on a stick. Absolutely delicious!
The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is very minimalist but welcoming. All the staff here have been so kind to me when I go! Definitely a huge bonus. I'm thankful when they explain some of the more "gimmicky" drinks to me, such as dipping the mochi or stirring the Panna cotta.
I think my only negatives are that the prices are definitely on the higher end. Usually around $8-$10 range per drink with tax. However, I understand that ingredients aren't cheap, especially if they're importing high end products. I also have waited quite a long time for drinks, especially when they first opened. Sometimes now you'll still end up waiting 10-15min even if there's only one or two people ahead of you. So i'd suggest giving yourself plenty of time if you're...
Read moreWe recently visited Machi Machi here in Edmonton, and WOW — this place absolutely blew us away! From the quality of the drinks to the exceptional customer service, everything was on point. 🙈
I ordered the Crème Brûlée Black Milk Tea and it was seriously one of the BEST milk teas I’ve ever had. It was rich, creamy, and had that perfect torched crème brûlée layer on top that gave it a beautiful caramelized flavor.. just the right amount of sweetness and totally addictive.
My boyfriend had the Mochi Redbean Brûlée Matcha Latte, and it was just as amazing! The matcha was strong and earthy (like real matcha, not the sweet artificial kind), and the combo of red bean and chewy mochi made every sip a whole experience. It’s honestly a drink you enjoy slowly because of how unique and well-balanced it is.
But what really made our visit memorable was the service. We didn’t catch his name, but the staff member who helped us was FANTASTIC. He was super friendly, welcoming, and even explained how to drink the beverages properly so we could get the full experience. It was such a thoughtful touch that really made a difference.
💬 Final thoughts: • Drinks: 10/10 • Service: 10/10 • Vibes: Cozy, aesthetic, and clean • Will we be back? Absolutely! No question.
